Chuck, Ann wants to paint her 44 Ford Jeep in Stratos Blue and mark it accordingly, have you or anyone else got any detailed pics of a GPW in USAF livery or at least a good paint sample as it may well be put in RAAF markings as her Jeep carries a Commonwealth DOD census plate as opposed to a Ordinance data plate that my M37 carries.....

Best Regards - MM :-)

As much as I'd love to see it painted Strata Blue, it really wouldn't be historically "correct." If used by the US Army Air Force during WWII, it would have been OD green. Our Air Force recieved its "divorce" from the Army in September of 1947 and didn't get around to adopting and applying its own official color until 1950. It took until 1958 for everything to get repainted and the new numbering system fully implemented, since the vehicles already in service were not repainted until necessary. I think the RAAF treatment would be the way to go.

Another USAF G503 in Korea.

Somewhere in the USAF and most likely stateside a tired old G503 probably got the Strata blue but most didn't.
