Always have to log in twice...

Post by Captnsim »

This is the only site this happens to me. I am almost never logged in when I open the page, even though I've checked the "always log me in" box. I also always have to log in twice. The first time I input my info it never even registers I've logged in, just goes to the forum main page.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Are your cookies "enabled"? That might be your issue, if so, MM might be able to help you out :?:

cookies Mmmmmm good

Post by Captnsim »

Yup, got my privacy setting on medium, as well as always allowing this site to use cookies. I also temporarily lowered my settings with no change.
Great first response though m-37Bruce! Thanks. :D

G'day Captn' N Bruce......
I have the same problem, one of the folks here suggested removing your current "bookmark" for the login and create a new one, that fixed the problem for quite a few folks but I use the "loging to check my private messages" link and I only have to do it once. (I think it may be something to do with the 2 login boxes on the main page as I had a similar problem on a page I was playing with....
Oh - and Bruce, I am working, too much to do and too little time with my job plus as far as prospecting goes there's no action as I haven't any spare time and I have to scratch up a few dollars after Christmas to change the oil in my quad as I have done a top-end rebuild and don't want to run it too far now as I have already used it for 20 hours and don't want all sortsa stuff floating in the oil causing any damage (it starts and runs sweet now :-) ).

Best Regards - MM :-)

That answers some of it. Glad to hear the quad is better.

Bookmark??? I just fold the corner over...

Post by Captnsim »

Thanks for the tip MM.
:D Thats a great suggestion! :D
I'm going to give it a try (new bookmark) with the forum index page as my bookmark instead of the sites main page.
I'll keep you posted on the results. :)

That's how I did it. I also checked the "leave me logged in" box. I just go to my bookmark list and click on the forum. One click and I'm in! :) On the down side, though, I can't remember what my password is, so I'm screwed if my computer crashes! :(

Fixed to my liking

Post by Captnsim »

Thanks for all the help. The issue is fixed good enough for me! :D
I still have to log in on my first visit after booting, even though I've checked the "log me in every time box". But I only have to log in once now, instead of twice to get in.
I also stay logged in now for as long as my computer is on. Before, I was having to log in everytime I visited the site...a real pain.
Thanks again for all the help. 8)

I'm getting the same issue at work, double log-in required after computer start up. They are running IE but an older version.
I had the same issue at home with Firefox (double log-in), but since I bookmarked the forum start page, I've been logged in for the last several days without incident.
Security on both machines is similar.
