Navy M37

Hello all, are there any Navy M37's that have been restored or it's evident that the truck was used in the Navy out there? My father retired from the Navy (submarines) in '72 so he served while they were being used. He never said anything about me having 2 ARMY trucks but it woukd be cool to actually see or have one! Thanks.

I re-did my Data Plates, saved the original aluminum ones though. I'm almost finished a 10/11 year Motor Pool Resto.

Bruce, it looks like you are keeping your truck green? Was it gray originaly?

As far as I can tell, yes, it's always been od. under the main Data plate, it's od. All of the sanding and repair that I've done, between all the layers of paint, nine of them.
The only battleship/fleet gray, was one layer of primer between some orange & fire engine red.
Like most all 37's, the frame was a shiny black, then od all over, the Powhatan VFD added a very pernicious coating of under-coating.

After lots of razor scraping and media blasting, most of it's gone.

Hmmm! If it's a Navy truck and it's always been OD, chances are very good that it was a Sea Bees truck.

So on an original seabees truck what markings were there? Is there a hood marking or is it just the US Navy with for official use only and the seabee emblem on the doors with the bumper markings? Also, I assume their correct color is Forest Green???

As I recall, Rick Larsen's 37 is a Sea Bee rig, either door has a black Sea Bee logo just as Bill L BDU's are presented, 12 or 14 inches sq.

Myself, I'm going for the peace time display, white lettering, a colorful Sea Bee rendition on either door, maybe even magnetized vinyl, white hood, front bumper & bumperettes #'s.

The tail-gate, being an US Army donation might get to keep her 4 in. stars?

When I was in the Bee's all our stuff had the emblem in yellow.

Does anyone have pictures of the seabee trucks when they were in service? I think alot of the restoration bee trucks are wrong. For example the grey M37 shown above has a USN hood number (I don't think the Navy did that on the hood) also, the USN is at the top of the door on all the Navy vehicles i've seen in the last 19 years. Maybe they were like that in the 50-60's but i'm not sure.
