East Coast Rally Trail Ride, Maps

Post by Carter »

Awhile ago Cabell ask me to layout a trail ride for the rally, friday afternoon, I thought about that for a while and decided that a convoy style with it's "follow the leader" plan would tie up to much rush hour traffic and not really give the driver the experience of a "drive in the country" afternoon run.
So with that idea in mind, I have posted some topo map scans of Harford County's Susquehanna State Park area as well as one of the local area roads on Webshots at:
http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/571479747FUeVrS
(View it full size and let me know if they are clear enough.)
I suggest anyone intrested in visiting the park and seeing the rural part of the county that is famous for several race horse breeding farms and the 18 th. century working grist mill take a drive and have a pleasant time.
One note of caution is that 2.5T trucks and larger should not drive the narrow one lane crushed stone road that runs along the west bank of the river from the intersection of Wilkinson and Stafford Road, near the mill, down river to Lapidum at Bench Mark 17'. That is a narrow stretch two way 8 to 10' wide area with limited areas to turn out to pass on coming vehicles and those contour lines get really close together.
Most of the other back roads in the area are typical country paved 2 lane ones that see normal traffic like oil delivery, farm and tandem dump sized vehicles.
If anyone has a better way of showing these maps and make them available in a better, easier, larger way please do so. These are public maps, no copyright problems. Thanks for looking.
Questions anyone?
