Buying quality these days isn't like in times past. Some genuine USA products are no better than the better quality Chinese stuff. Take for instance hand tools, Japanese items in many cases are better than US items, hurts my feelings to say that, but lets keep it truthful. Snap-on products used to be top of the line, just go buy the name Snap-On & you knew you had the best. Today's snap-on tools are no better than Sears Craftsman as far as the common items go, in fact I have a set of Craftsman Professional combination wrenches from 10 or so years ago that have the heavy raised panels, I'd rather use them than any Snap-on I ever had. They have the same replacement warranty. Only thing is they don't make the raised panel wrenches any longer, so we are very careful with these because we want them to last. We have a lot of older tools from the construction equipment days, brands such as Bonney, Billings, New Britain, etc. New Britain used to be the top of the line tools sold by NAPA, really heavy duty stuff. NAPA doesn't offer any line even close to this stuff anymore. I'm proud of my older stuff, wouldn't trade it for new top of the line MAC or Snap-On tools of today. Educate yourself so you can recognize quality when you see & pick it up, One of the best places to go tool shopping these days is at flea markets. I have a friend that has one of the largest selections of tools I know of, he hits his local flea market weekly & comes away with some really great stuff at unheard of low prices. According to him, many times the sellers don't know the top quality stuff from the junk.
