New member here, but an old problem

Hi, I am a high school auto shop teacher and my school owns a 1952 M37 that I convinced them to buy for the shop. It was a true basket case 1 1/2 years ago but now we are at the point where we are trying to start it for the first time since we rebuilt the motor. My problem is I had students take the carb and governor apart and I did not see them while they were doing it.
The main issue is the governor. The small chain was broken and I do not know how all the parts fit back inside. Does anyone have a picture of the inside of the governor assembly so we can try and fit back together and maybe make a new chain. I am not quite sure how the whole thing works with the chain and the small vacuum chamber plunger rod and such.
Any help is appreciated.

First of all, Welcome to the site.

Send Charles at M-Series Rebuild a PM with your email address and explain that you would like to know how to adjust the Gov and Carb. Charles has helped many of us in the past with tech questions.

I almost forgot.........we will need to see pictures of your project M.

thanks for the info. Here is a pic of the governor unit I have. I will add pic of the truck soon.

TM 9-1826A should have all of the information you need.

Oops, ignore my earlier advice about the copy from MM; that's the excerpts and it does not include the governor. The full manual (apx. 200 pages) is available from places like: http://www.themanualguys.com/3%20~%20Co ... 0Carbs.htm

Perfect thank you. now i have to figure out how the whole thing works. Does vacuum open the throttle plate and the linkage push it closed? Hence it would be in balance so to speak when running?
