cowl vent drain hose?

Post by Tuko »

I was poking around under the dashboard last night and noticed on the underside of the cowl vent there is a reservoir with a nipple coming off it for water that has collected in the cowl vent to drain into however there is no hose hooked up to it. Was looking to see if anyone has a pic or can describe where the drain hose would exit the passenger compartment.

Thanks,
Tuko

Tuko,

I believe what you're looking for is the black hose coming out of the firewall (directly under the horn in the pic) that runs down the firewall behind the ignition filter box.

bob

ImageI found a photo from who knows where. A photo I took for reference. I had to find it then put it on photobucket, then try to post it. I look and Bob beat me to it and with a even better photo. OK It's a great photo! Any how here it is. Look for the hose on the top of the photo to the left of the small cables for the choke.

ahhh ok i did see that hole, but it is currently occupied by the vacuum line for the windshield wipers!! reroute that and buy some heater hose is my plan. funny that somebody thought it was important to run the wiper hose to drive in the rain, but apparently didnt mind rain running down the floor of the truck  thanks guys

Hey John,

Your photos are great.....which is why I keep them handy. I hope you don't mind me using them. It's much easier to explain things when looking at a nice clean engine bay than my muddy grime covered one.

Hey John,

I've got all of your pictures saved as well. I'm using them as a benchmark / guide for my truck rebuild.

Use away guys! I actually found some additional shots from that session that were not uploaded. I'll get them up there at some point.

This past weekend I was laying under a truck shooting the transfer case control rods...club members ask.."Where's John? Under that truck with his camera!" :D
