New guy with rusty m37 in NC.

Post by nc_reb »

Hello all,
My name is Andy from central North Carolina, and I have recently acquired a 1951 M37. I have a 1943 Willys MB and a 1951 M100 trailer.

About two weeks ago, I drug this old war horse out of the woods.

I pulled it to the shop and within about 20 minutes it was running like a top and holding 40 pounds of oil pressure.

I have rebuilt the master cylinder and purchased 4 new wheel cylinders. I have it pulled down and doing the body work etc.

What I have questions about are the markings.

I have been trying to uncover any old markings on my 1951 M37. So far I have only found partial letters on the bumper. Nothing on the hood.

I know that WWII jeep hood numbers started with 20 followed by 6 digits.

are there any particular markings or series of numbers that I should consider painting back on it when I get to it.

Where would stars etc go, and what size should they be?

Particular regs I need to know of?

Welcome to the site Andy,

When I first looked at the picture it reminded me of an old movie prop truck, the grime on the windows looks like it has been painted on.
