mounting the in cab rifle racks
well we took the tm for the truck to a steel place and had the bracket bent up, looks nice few holes and it should be good to go, my question is the manual shows there being "feet" on the butt mounts on the floor I am using an nos duece kit (cause they are cheap) and the manual gives no measurements for these "feet" can anyone shed some light on this or have a pic of the parts mounted on the floor in their truck thanks

The older style oval shaped floor plate (buttstock cup) mounting holes were to the outside where as the newer, rectagular shaped plate mounting holes are to the inside. Not much you can do with this unless you want to make a custom base plate to mount the buttstock cup on or replace the tabs. Otherwise, once I think the best way to figure location would be to attach the upper bracket to the dash, mount a couple rifles in it, mark where the butts rest, and mount the floor plates to fit.
I used the same brackets. For the floor, I used the main bracket that was supplied with the dual mount kit. I cut it and mounted the two floor brackets to the piece, about the same distance apart as the upper mounts. On the out board bracket, I drilled out the floor mount hole to match the floor pan bolt at that location. I was then able to mount the floor brackets using an existing bolt hole and bolt instead of drilling a few holes in the floor. I will post pictures if I can.
I eyballed it using my M14 rifles and it came out fine.
If you need a source for good replica rifles, go to an Airsoft place at http://www.kapowwe.com/ and go to their bone yard section. They sell non working Soft air/replica guns at a much cheaper price than many of the replica gun vendors out there. They are legal in NJ too, even the working ones...

Exactly. I assembled the "foating" cup to the home made bracket using the bolt and lock nut provided in the kit. The other cup and the end of the bracket where the fixed cup goes, has a larger hole I drilled so that the corner floor pan bolt holds down the bracket/floating cup and the second outboard fixed cup. The floor pan bolt was plenty long enough to hold the whole assembly with a couple washers to bring the cups off the floor about a quarter inch, securely to the floor.
The little catch is that the inboard cub assemby bolt has to just clear the other pan bolt, but the same pan bolt will rest on the bottom of the cup it self. That is why you will need a couple thick washers at the mounting pan bolt to keep the assembly even.
I am not too good at explaining my barnyard mechanics, so if you want, I can post a couple shots of the unit apart to give you a better idea of what I am talking about.

rifle cushions in rack
Here is an idea for after you get your rifle racks mounted. I take a piece of rubber and place in the bottom of the rack to keep the rifle butts from rubbing on the bare metal. I own a leather shop and we also do shoe repair. I use scraps of cushion crepe rubber about 1/4" thick we use for soleing.
I also use this in the bottom of my gas can carriers to eliminate the metal to metal grinding as we bounce along. If you have a shoe repair shop in your town, ask if they have any scraps of 12 iron cushion crepe soleing material. If you don't live near a shop just let me know and I will be happy to send some to anyone who wants it. I also have lots of leather scraps if anyone needs it. I will be going to Aberdeen if anyone wants to meet up there.
