Re: How to Disassemble This Jack?

Hi Guys, I still haven't figured how to get it disassembled, but don't really need to. After a bath in the parts washer everything turns freely and it works as intended. It gets pretty wobbly when fully extended, but I guess it will do the job. As to Isaac's suggestion about it coming apart once ful...

Re: 24v Tachometer Suggestions

Andy, Here's the one I've been thinking about installing. It matches the M-Series gauges perfectly but I just haven't figured out how to mount it in the dash. You'll need to make a harness, but it's just a couple of wires. http://www.ebay.com/itm/vintage-m45-military-tank-apc-tachometer-hour-meter-p...

Re: How to Disassemble This Jack?

Ah, my bad. My photography skills leave a little to be desired! I started searching patents online for jacks and I think I found the one that applies to this one. I'll check it out after I get all the animals fed and have a look at it.

Be back soon,

Re: dist cap question

Hi Mike, Just a couple thoughts for you............you said you know you have continuity between the little spring and the center electrode of the cap........but do you still have it when you wiggle or press on the spring, or put pressure on the center electrode? I'd check those conditions as well. ...

Re: How to Disassemble This Jack?

Hi Guys, Isaac.........I was looking at the same article over on G503! Thanks. As for turning it all the way up.........it started getting hard to turn so I stopped and posted my question. I can put a little force on it tomorrow and see if it continues to go all the way up. If not I can soak it for ...

How to Disassemble This Jack?

Hi Guys, Ok, I'm going to do something different..........I'm going to ask how you disassemble this thing BEFORE I try to do it and end up destroying it. With old age comes wisdom.......someone once said. I picked up this jack last week because it was cheap and painted OD green. I did a little diggi...

Correct Valve Stem Cap

Hi Guys, What does the correct valve stem cap look like for the M37? Is it the type that has the tool to remove the Schrader valve on it.........or just a regular metal cap? ORD says it's part number 2316, but can't find any info or a pic of it. It lists the valve stem as TR-177a, for which there is...

Re: Fording Kits Stuck in the "European Theater"

Hi Rack, Yeah, there does seem to be some good M37 parts over the pond in Europe........but shipping is a bitch. I found some nice stuff in Greece, but between the VAT and the shipping it just wasn't cost effective. And then if something gets damaged or lost in transit I'm sure it wouldn't be fun de...

Re: Waxing philosophical about MVs

Well............I'll just throw this out there and see what sticks. The point is well taken that those "in the know" about vehicles produced almost 70 years ago are fading fast. Some of their knowledge will be lost forever. Most of that will be shortcuts, tricks of the trade, and the like....

Re: Picking the "Correct" Paint - Help Needed

Eagle, Thanks for the link...........I'm anxious to hear which color you picked! For the rest of you guys following this thread.......it's fall in Maryland, my favorite time of year, and I spend as little time inside as I can. So I'll get back to hitting this thread hard as soon as it gets cold. tha...

Re: Using Antique License Plates

Wow........interesting how each state handles it. I need to mention the sticker thing to the MVA person I talk to next. I hadn't thought about it, but I'm guessing I'd need to put the current yearly registration sticker on the plate somewhere. Hmmmmm.

thanks,

Re: lots of bolts!

Speaking of being an easy target............I've always wondered why MVs have reflectors all over the place. I guess they're for the enemy to shoot at when they get tired of aiming at the big white stars.

Re: Using Antique License Plates

Hi Just,

Maryland did the same thing...........slipped a metal tabbed plate over the 52 that said 53.

Jay........I like that idea. :D

thanks,
