My civilian 230 motor did the same thing initially. Not rebuilt like yours though, it did sit for 20 years. I did rebuild the carb. It has gotten better over time by running it. Not sure if yours might do the same after running it for a while? At this point I'm not worried about it.

Looks great! Maybe put the spare on the back? It definitely wouldn't look as cool, but you wouldn't have to have a cutout for it and it might be easier to get to.
