Re: Blown Chryco Hemi in an M37
in the spring of '69, when I was graduating from Nebraska via ROTC, and soon to be a 2nd LT, with orders to Germany, decided it was time with my (first wife, who later ran off with a lawyer when I was in SEA) , to give our MGB, so went down to the Lincoln Dodge dealer, intending to buy a 340 Dart. ...

Re: Blown Chryco Hemi in an M37
That's really clever, Outpost! I was all hyped up to see that install; however it was worth the laugh when I saw the pictures! Gary It was time for some comedy. Friday will be my flat head 6 install into the M37day. It will be 113*F outside on that day. Luckily lots of shade, and the Porta Cool wil...

Blown Chryco Hemi in an M37
Why is EVERYONE complaining about a tight fit with V8's in the M37 engine bay??
I stuffed this big block Hemi into the M37, Don't know why there are so many issues with the size of the engine bay.

Re: engine stands
Here is an old Lakewood engine stand that I converted to 4 wheels. The 3 legs and tiny steel wheels would catch in any cement crack. Dumped an engine block over one time. No more. Made this one longer to accommodate inline 6 cylinder engines. put large wheels on it too. All wheels have a lock.

Re: Rebuild time on the 230 flat head engine
one thought. I have seen the head lifter fitting, where the hoist chain hooks onto the motor, in various places on the head. I found with my hoist fitting where I think you have yours, made it more difficult to get a reasonable angle on my motor-transmission assembly for removal and reinstallation....

Re: ETW1 carb accelerator pump - Viton
Andy
Yes, since the pump operation is on vacuum, if it drags too much in the chamber, it will affect the performance.
Have you done the screen under the carb? I made a two piece gasket with titanium screen between the layers to help atomize the fuel droplets.
See my other post in Technical.

Re: Rebuild time on the 230 flat head engine
Many moons ago, An old salt mechanic showed me how to take two gaskets and a piece of window screen to make a sandwich, then put it under the carb to further atomize things. The mileage went up a bit, no notice of power loss. Smoother takeoff under WOT, too. Funny what tricks work with these simple...

Re: Rebuild time on the 230 flat head engine
Researching the letters and numbers for the T245 block. Still looking for a good website that has all info, ( alpha as well as numeric) for these engines.
pic with "62" is below the distributor, other is the back of the block.

Re: Rebuild time on the 230 flat head engine
RMS, thanks for the comment. I did some work with the grinding stones and Dremel today. Not NHRA quality, lol. but should help the flow somewhat. If anyone is interested, I have one of these available. I think this is an older style intake due to the limited tapped ports. Part number is highlighted ...

Re: Rebuild time on the 230 flat head engine
looking good ! are you going to port match that intake before buttoning it up ? mine was miles off, I also massaged the radius to each runner under the carb base as it was very sharp. all work was left ruff to aid in the atomization of carters coarse droplets. every horse counts on these 6000lb bea...
