Re: i can't take it. I'm going 12 volt...

Thanks guys ! Yeah, that's what I am missing, someone removed the Winch and PTO. Likely why there's a 12 v Hydraulic power pack on the truck right now. ( Which had three batteries running it ... can you imagine ? ) Since the Charging system is working well, I want to put high draw devices at 24 V an...

Re: i can't take it. I'm going 12 volt...

I started to work on the old girl and discovered that high current Voltage converters are pretty expensive. Hmmm, back to the drawing board. Then I started to wonder about 24v Hydraulic motors, and sure enough there are plenty on eBay. Seem to be ex-forklift ?? It looks very similar in size and appe...

Re: 1952 m37 for sale

Thanks Travis !

Roughly a 11.5 hour drive from my place, not too bad.
I love the fact that you've got it so far mechanically.

Let me figure out my next steps :)

There's a Canadian M37 around the corner from me, but it's in pieces.

9.00 x 16 Tubes What replacements are available ?

Hi folks,

There are plenty of NOS Flaps in that size however harder to find Tubes for some reason.

Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes replacement Tubes that will work with NDT tires ?

Thanks

Re: M37 Started Burning Oil Only Once Warm

Now that's interesting ! Most folks I have spoken to would swear upon their very lives that these trucks must have Non-Detergent Oil. I'm guessing that Non Detergent Oil was necessary back in the days of Leaded Gasoline ? I'll hunt for ZInc rich Oil, don't think I've ever seen that kind of oil speci...

Re: 230 vs 251

Wow,
Thanks Bob, now that's interesting.
Is this common for some M37s ? or would this have been done by someone along the way ?

Everything else around the Engine looks the way it's supposed to in the manual.
It's amazing it all fits.

Re: 230 vs 251

Hi guys,

This is what I saw when I cleaned up the Plate beside the Filler Tube :
IND 5A236378 star ( The star is actually the symbol, a star )

( Mind you this is what I could make out with my old eyes )
Does this make sense ?

The Exhaust manifold exits via the rear, looks like a 230 !

Re: M37 Started Burning Oil Only Once Warm

Hey there Bob ! I've looked a lot deeper into the Engine components. Over the years it looks like the Truck has gone through many customization's, so it's been a little difficult to figure out what's going on. I noticed that there's a copper pipe running from the Oil Filler Tube over to the Carburet...

Re: i can't take it. I'm going 12 volt...

Hi gang, I've got to admit, I can purchase Sealed Beam Headlamps pretty cheaply still from Autoparts stores. 12v accessories are also much easier to source, like a Hydraulic Pump that was retro-fitted to my own truck. I've been looking at 24v to 12v converters. One that's caught my eye is the SDC 60...

Re: 230 vs 251

Awesome feedback guys ! I've been running through the TM9-1840A manual, comparing to my own engine. However, to your point, I haven't found any manual to explain the 251 to compare, thus my curiosity. Thanks guys, this helps me figure it out, particularly, DUH, the Engine Code Stamp. I nearly fell o...

Re: 230 vs 251

Say Folks,
anyone have some detailed pictures of the 251 ?

I am pretty sure I have the 230 in my "Air Force Blue" M37.
However there's a T98 transmission in her, so I know that doesn't fit the picture.
:D

I'd love to determine that my engine is definitively a 230.

Re: Front Propeller Shaft Removal

Now that's interesting ! I'll make sure to check the alignment before I re-install. When you say "Ears" you mean the tops of each U are lined up on each end of the shaft ? ( So they rotate at the same time within each revolution ? ) We pulled her out and spent an hour in the parts washer. ...

Re: Front Propeller Shaft Removal

Thanks so much Andy, particularly for the additional suggestions. Hopefully the drive-line shop can deal with massive curve in mine. :) Say, did you get your new one from Napa ? I read in a thread somewhere someone had ordered their parts via Napa which apparently still stocks them ? Thanks again. P...
