Re: Lower door weather strip question
Thanks for the thoughts. I did think being mounted to the cab would create a place to catch crap. I also thought getting in and out might wear it some. Not quit to the doors yet, just getting stuff together for them. But was still wondering what I was gonna do about it. May wait till I install the d...

Lower door weather strip question
I've got the new gaskets for the doors. The lower gasket I'm told mounts to the cab rocker panel. My truck has no bracket to hold this seal. It looks like it should slide into a long metal strip. Was wondering if any one had a picture of their lower door seal mounting? I've searched around for pictu...

Re: 1953 M37
Yes I've seen floats made from cork, and brass and even some type of material like backalite. [spelling] This one I'm sure has been replaced as its plastic. I've looked through a bunch of our old stuff and not found a float the right size or shape. So thinking maybe just change whole thing

Re: 1953 M37
Well finally back at it. My sons house is finally done. In the last couple weeks Ive gotten some stuff done on the M37. Straightened the tailgate. That was a chore as it was bent in 2 directions. Had to make several cuts then re-weld to get straightened. I did get used tailgate hinges from VPW and a...

Re: 1953 M37
Finally got a minute to pop back in and visit. Put 2 new batteries in the old girl, cranks a flying now. While not worked on it much lately the thing still starts every time I move it around to get to another piece of equipment. I did put non-alcohol fuel in it so that helps a lot. My main project i...

That duct tape sounds like a good idea, Just use brake clean to wash off glue when removed. Defiantly worth a try.

Re: Anybody have a VPW repro tailgate?
I bought a used tailgate from MWM last year. He didn't mention making new ones, but never hurts to call them.
The one I got is a little bent up, twisted. But will work when all straightened. And lots better than what I had, which was a homemade one.

Re: A storage unit of spare parts i found
New brake drums and rotors come with some type of zinc coating on them. I wonder about a zinc spray?? Although It does seem that truck drums, once soaked with oil from a leaking seal seems to hold oil for a long time. Even with new shoes. But I have used them and cleaned them up many times. Having s...

Re: winch cable care
I agree Bob, I use chain and cable fluid on anything don't want to not rust. I even use it on drill press, mill and lathe parts to prevent surface rust due to humidty. It turns things sorta brown but no rust. Washes off with brake clean. But will not evaporate like WD40 etc. I've not done it yet, bu...
