Re: M37 with Chevy 350 questions
Are there any ring and pinion upgrades for increased power? Yes, apparently the new production 4.89:1 gearsets are not made of the same material. And when I get around to building another Diesel M37, it will have a Dana 70 or 80 axle, narrowed and rehubbed to take stock 5-bolt Budd wheels. The fron...

Re: Transfer Case Output Seal
The sleeve is an aftermarket device, made of really thin steel and designed to slip over the damaged flange area and be seated with a drive collar and hammer. Simple to do. The part of it that the collar rides on is then removed, leaving a new, smooth surface for proper sealing. Some are also known ...

Re: M37 with Chevy 350 questions
In my 53 years of driving/rebuilding/repowering M37's I've come to find out the stock ring & pinions can't handle much more torque/speed than the stock motor can deliver. Such as you find in a small block Chevy engine. . The gears don't break, rather it just wears off the Formate coating on the ...

A very fine job doing what should be done to preserve another M37.
Been there, done that, several times.

Re: Carburetor Rebuild Kit
If the kit doesn't have the vacuum-operated accelerator pump brass piston, it is the wrong or incomplete kit.

Re: My 1952 Dodge M37 re-building process
The ETW1 carb on an M37 does not have a manual accelerator pump function. Pump all you like, but it will not give a shot of gas. :( The accelerator pump works only when the engine is running, and is automatically activated when called for via a low vacuum mode. Those carbs are more complicated than ...

Re: Original Brake Lines With Funk ??
Denatured alcohol is the solvent used for cleaning out brake lines that used DOT 3.
MEK or some other nasty solvent should be used on lines that contained DOT 5.

Re: Carburetor Rebuild Kit
The Mike's kit wouldn't work for the ETW1, it is for the earlier (WW2) carbs.

Buy Gillespie next time. Thin only with Xylene.
Faded military paint can never be restored by any method I know, and I've painted a lot of MV's.

Re: Oil pump leak
A couple times over 50 years, I've seen the military 24V oil pressure gauge crap out.
I'm not advocating the change to a mechanical one, but that type of instrument is good for a test against the electric one.

Re: CB External Speaker
In other words, you need to bypass the matching transformer, and connect directly to the voice coil terminals on the speaker. Those little blast-proof speakers are 8-Ohm impedance, fine for use with your CB rig. I'd leave the transformer in place just in case you want to restore it down the road. PoW

What distributor are you running? Remote running a coil with the waterproof dist is tough to do.

Re: Canvas
Canvas is cool & original. It is also ephemeral. Good for hangar queens, not so much for trucks that get driven and parked outside. Buy OD green Herculite and sew that up, it will last almost forever. It is essentially Vinyl covered Kevlar weave. I've had it last many years in the nasty AZ sun. ...
