He obviously has not had to shop for a tailgate. Hey, but it's single wall.... just pound it out.

Re: Tie rod, castle nut/slotted nut question
How tight were the old tie rod ends? Maybe measure the old one compared to the new ones?

Re: Tie rod, castle nut/slotted nut question
Do you have the maintainance manual for the truck? You can find them online. At the Steel Soldiers website, once you join you can download M37 Manuals. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/tm9-8031-2-power-train-body-and-frame-manual-for-the-m37.145688/ In the manual it shows you first slip a washe...

Re: SC M37
Like in the past I get distracted by other projects that I have going. I finally decided to finish the gas station light project I started years ago. What sparked it back to life was I found a guy in Fort Wayne In. that makes the sign. It’s a foam core with metal on both sides, so it’s not a heavy a...

Re: Anti freeze
Since I started from a fresh rebuild on my M38A1 and will soon with my M37 I have been using the orange coolant - Dexcool. Here is a blurb from a website: The Dangers Of Mixing Green And Orange Coolant Vehicle engines require coolants to keep them from overheating. In the past, there was only one ki...

Re: Valve Seat Angles
Typically the Exhaust valve is the one that can burn. Too little contact and it will burn. Too much contact and it doesn't get hot enough to shed its carbon buildup. The extra angles are just to improve flow around the seat and valve. The Exhaust seat size range is the 1/16 - 3/64 = .0625 through .0...

Valve Seat Angles
I have been searching around to see what the size / width of the 45 degree valve seat should be. I am thinking of doing a 3 angle job on the seats of the flat head T245. Not finding much info I was going to do a standard size seat width with the 60/45/30 angles. Then I found this reference to a Mopa...

Re: WTB Master Cylinder Vent Valve
I replaced my master with a modern dual system master. I might still have the old vent valve. I just have to look for it.

Re: Ahl Restoration Guide Online
I have a copy and it's an okay book. I wouldn't say it was a required book for someone working on an M37.
Most of it is Ahl's work on his truck with some tips and hints , some pages from the Army manuals and parts pictures. I find copies of the original Army manuals of more use.

Re: Steering knuckle related questions
I just remembered there is an angle to the wavy washer. When faced the correct way it keeps the felt in.

Re: Steering knuckle related questions
I used some of that 'Right Stuff' sealer on the spindle to knuckle surfaces. To get the felt retainer to hold the whole felt you squish it in there and the wavy washer holds it in place. https://imageevent.com/moosecreekmaple/steeringknuckle;jsessionid=l0k9e3gz41.camel?p=15&n=1&m=-1&c=3&...

Re: Marine Corps "Paper Clip" Winch Bumper Reinforcement
The two cross pieces on top of the winch help hold the two ends on. Here is how mine looks now.
