Re: front disc brake lockup
Thanks everyone for all the help!!! Very thoughtful ideas and suggestions. I replaced the 3 front flexible brake line hoses with new from Vintage Power Wagon. The ones I replaced all seemed to be old but still solid (they didn't look like they had been collapsing). I looked at the MC (Master Cylinde...

Re: Tow Hook Question
The G741 parts book only lists one part number for the 2 tow hook brackets on the front bumper (they are also listed as the same part number whether you have a winch or non-winch bracket). The parts manual is usually pretty good on noting if things were changed during the production runs (usually wi...

Re: GAS TANK
Any gas tank must always be bonded to the vehicle frame to discharge any static charge that accumulates on the gas tank and also to discharge any static charge that may be on the fuel fill nozzle at the gas station. Some stations here have a label on the fuel system pump that instructs you to touch ...

Re: front disc brake lockup
I've read and reread all the posts and sincerely thank all the posters for their time and valued input. The posts brought up issues and details I hadn't focused on and really helped me try and analyze what's going on. At this point I think I'll re-adjust the brakes (pushrod and pedal adjustment) and...

Re: front disc brake lockup
Has anyone ever taken the residual pressure valve out of the original single circuit master cylinder? How do you do it? If I can remove it from the master cylinder I can leave it out of the front line going to the disc brakes and put an incline valve (10 psi?) In the line going to the rear drum brak...

Re: Strange chirp
Classic is fan belt slipping under load. Out of adjutmdnt (too loose), old belt (glazed), grease or oil on belt or pulley.....at idle under no load they have enough friction left but when rhe rpm goes up and the belt gets loaded they slip and give that classic chirp chirp chirp sound. New proper siz...

Re: fuel pump gasket
Excellent help as usual from the forum. For the m37 I go to the parts manual to see if the gasket thickness and material type is listed, then I try to match it as best I can when I buy the gasket material if I am making my own gasket. Probably overkill but looking up the info and chasing down materi...

Re: front disc brake lockup
Excellent point. Original single Circuit master cylinder. Previously when they've locked I cracked a front disc bleeder screw and the front calipers released with a bang. Upon further thought something must be keeping the piston in the master cylinder from retracting after putting on the brakes. If ...

front disc brake lockup
I bought my 1952 m37 with disc brakes already installed in the front. I have replaced the rear wheel cylinders and shoes and the rear brakes work fine. 4 months ago the master cylinder was leaking so I replaced it with the same original style unit. I removed the brake vent line, made sure it was cle...

Re: Carburettor question
Charles, if his float is set lower than spec wouldn't it be closing the needle on the seat with the fuel level in the bowl at a level lower than normal and possibly be causing him to run too lean at idle? Cutting out the airflow with the choke would then richen out the idle mixture (less air) and po...

Re: Best M37 batteries
I've put about 3 sets of the US2HN in my truck and I'm getting damn tired of replacing them.
I just replaced them with two 51R batteries. They fit in the battery tray with the original battery hold-down very nicely.
They were about $84.00 bucks each at Kragen/O'Reilly.
