Re: M37CDN "Gertrude"

Welcome Rob, good to hear from you.
I’ll look forward to seeing pictures of Gertrude.
Is she pretty much stock now? Or has she been modified as they often get when used for farming and the like?
Cheers- Doug

Re: Happy Thanksgiving

Good to hear from you Charles!
On reflection, I find I am very thankful for this site and my old and new friends I have found from being part of this great group of people.
Keep em rolling!
Cheers- Doug

Re: over 500 miles, all is well

NV- your truck is looking good! Sure is nice to go from the apprehension of a newly restored rig to the assurance of a trusty and reliable “driver”. One of my tasks professionally is to road test the newly restored (90 year old) Rolls Royces; often putting 150 miles on them in a few days. Our philos...

Re: Fuel tank rust removal

I suppose there is the possibility that the outfit that will eventually coat the inside of this tank my have the ability to clean it first. I'm not sure exactly as they are north of the border (Canada) and only speak French. The extent of my French speaking skills is about enough to get me slapped i...

Re: Fuel tank rust removal

Thanks all for the perspectives! So far, it seems like the consensus is to have a radiator shop derust the fuel tank. Sadly, for me, most, if not all radiator repair shops that were near me, have closed their doors, and the good ones I know of are a couple of hundred miles away. The issue I have wit...

Fuel tank rust removal

Hey everyone! I picked up a fuel tank earlier this summer, overall it seems solid enough, it just needs a good derusting on the inside followed by a fuel tank reseal. The issue is the rust removal. My plan is/was to use electrolysis to remove the rust inside. I have done a little reading in the foru...

Re: Transfer case cooler

Hey all, actually the color something is has nothing to do with heat transfer ( conduction). Sure, if the source of heat is sunlight it will make a difference, but that should have no effect on this cooler as it is not in direct sunlight!
Cheers!

Re: Transfer case cooler

Nice work!
I'm curious, and forgive me if you mentioned this already, but what is the "trigger wheel" looking disc attached to the parking brake output flange?

Re: Head gasket..

So now with a freshly milled head and adjusted valves, what kind of warm engine compression numbers do you get? I have been considering doing something similar to one of my motors, but my experience has shown me that all too often "tightening up" the upper end of a motor tends to accelerat...

Re: Head gasket..

Longshot-
How much did you have milled off of the head?
Let us know what the new compression numbers turn out to be if at all different.
Where did you get the new coolant distribution tube?
Good luck with it, let us know how it turns out.

Re: Pretty brakes!

So, where would a guy go to get the hardware for a disc brake set up like that? Did you fabricate the parts needed yourself?
Or is someone currently making them for sale? I have some spare hubs, and access to a machine shop...

Re: Did my ignition switch die?

Mark, while it is true that starter works irrespective of ignition switch, and new batteries are likely to make starter work as it should, I'd still be concerned about your initial ignition switch question. Those switches should have a decided "on" and "off", without needing to f...

Re: engine dies after 3 min

I agree that the revving up before it dies is a clue here. I agree with much of what ez8 says except that air is NOT fuel! When determining no running or poor running of gas engines it is better to look for the quality of the engine's spark, fuel, air, and compression. Each of those 4 items can gene...

Re: drag link ball cup types?

Interesting stuff! My TM 9-8031-2 shows all 8 seats being the same (7342835)as does my Ord 9, and it kinda makes me want to tear a drag link apart to see what is where in mine. I do need to replace the idler bushing ( or more) so I'll have it apart soon enough anyway. My guess would be that the seat...
