Re: Oil Pan , Drop.
Congrats on figuring it out! Somehow, I always suspected you were a better mechanic than you are a linguist, and you have proven my suspicions correct. When you get ready to put it back in, I'd suggest putting the stands or blocks under the frame and letting the axle drop down a bit for clearance.

Re: Stay original suspension or go GM 2 1/2" springs?
I really can't imagine what yoou hope to achieve by moving the spring 2" forward. I think the Dodge engineers pretty much considered all options and chose the best one in the first place.

Re: Broke engine
Well....there's a first time for everything, and Gunny seems to have been lucky so far. Now, the education begins! From his description, I'm inclined to think "thrown rod." I could be mistaken, of course. Cams and crankshafts have been known to let go with similar sounding symptoms. We won...

Re: Electric wiper motors
Let me start by saying I hate air powered wiper motors . I am a locomotive engineer and even in the most modern computer controlled locomotives have these crappy air powered wipers. My engine produces enough electricity to power a small city but some genius decided it would be a great idea to stick...

"Wow" is right! That was some score. I strongly recommend installing a guard or two. Those exposed gears can be lethal!

......And can the bushing be used after it is removed if it is not worm beyon specs...... I've spent a lot of time bending wrenches over the years, and I don't recall ever reusing a bushing after having removed it. I'm not saying you can't reuse them, but I'd be very careful with regard to toleranc...

I knew there might be another "something" wrong, but I can't seem to think real well just now. Thanks for the voice of experience, Charles.

Re: Carb hesitation
It sounds like you have a fuel-flow restriction in your primary (idle) system. From your description, your secondary (acceleration) circuit is just fine. It could be nothing more than dirt in the primary circuit of the carb. A good cleaning could take care of it.

Re: M151 Question
Yes. I first encountered one in Korea, back in '73. It was assigned to the chaplain, but he'd let anyone use it who had a "valid" reason. We had several of them in my TAC squadron back in '79 and '80. I loved the little beasts. Unfortunately, we also had a couple of CJ-7 Jeeps that were be...

Re: Contaminated fuel
If your engine is in good shape, it will run on it just fine....with a couple of notable exceptions. (1) It will have a noticeable loss in power. (2) You may notice some blue smoke from the exhaust. (3) The engine may be a little harder to start when cold. If you put a couple of gallons in the tank ...

Well...I have heard it said that an M37 is a lot like a Harley. If it's not leaking, it's time to add oil.
