Surgical light / lighting in an M42 ? ?
I came across a decent ambulance that is in good condition in the rear, but as usual, the lighting has been striped. There seemed to be a larger light towards the front, and a smaller one towards the rear. I really doubt that you would find the proper surgical light, but what have you guys done with...

A Douglas AD4 Skyraider bits the dust
A aquaintance of mine and his girl friend died in May when he went down in his restored Douglas AD4 Skyraider in the mountains of southern Idaho. I am glad that what I restore has 4 wheels and never leaves the ground. Here is the link http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/home/51394059-76/idaho-plane-sheriff...

Re: Like I don't have enough projects.
We have run a lot of GMC - Chev's. I don't think the early 80's was GM's finest hour. A lot of small mickey mouse things will drive you nuts. For Starters - the speedometer always strips out when you turn a bunch of zeros. The wiper motors were poor. I bet the original radio is toast. But for the mo...

Re: Pyrene Fire Extinguisher Find
Most brackets I have seen are black for original installation. Unless they got caught up in a quicky repaint.

Power steering box help ?
Every once in a while, with the Dodge steering box conversion, a customer will have problems with when cranking hard to the left, the pitman arm will hit the bracket and restrict the travel. I know this comes up from time to time, but what has anyone done to remedy the situation ? Do you dare heat a...

Re: winch questions
PS Make sure and look at the bottom of the winch and make sure that the Aluminum "ear" that the rod goes through is not broken.

Re: winch questions
The top plate and the bottom rod as well serves to keep the allignment of the 2 winch halves straight. Putting it in either set of holes should not matter.
I do have bottom rods for sale with the proper nuts for $25.00.

Re: Sifting sandblasting medium
That is what I use, a door screen. Shouldn't be too large. If it gets any larger, it would plug up the nozzle. I wish there was a way to get rid of the "fines" too much dust in the recycled stuff. You would need some kind of air machine. I have a medium sized cabinet, but I use my pressure...

Re: What about grease ? ? ?
I agree, I would not grease the springs. In fact, if the center bolts and hardware are intact, I would just sand blast and paint and not bother tearing apart. If for some reason you do tear them apart, cleaning and a good paint job is about all you need. I run a fleet of 5 ton trucks and it takes a ...

What about grease ? ? ?
In the previous post, Hingsing talks about tearing the spring packs apart and regreaseing them as you reassemble. Question for discussion is : What kind of grease would you use for something that you want to last for many years ? ? I have worked around farm machinery all my life and when we tear stu...

Re: winch oil
I really don't speak of corn head grease from personal experience. Just from what others have said. What I have personally done is use a product marketed by the local Valley center pivot dealer that is red and sticky. They sell it for basically the same idea, to put in center pivot gear boxes that s...

Re: winch oil
If your winch rebuild is nice and tight, then 80-90 should work fine.
For some reason the 80-90 starts to drip out, then John Deere corn head grease would be in order.

Re: Cost of power steering conversion?
Check my website at www.snakeriver4x4.com and study the power steering tab. I believe it runs around $600.00 or so depending on what options you want. That would be with you buying the ps pump and v-belt on your end. You might save some money my finding a ps box on your end. Or Charles at M-Series R...

Re: 1974 Dodge Charger SE
This looks like a decent deal. It reminds me of watching AMERICAN PICKERS, when they come up with a Ford Fairlane and gave the guy $7,000 and then a mechanic had the guts to warp them for another $4,000 for a tune-up ect. They had $11,000 into the project and it still needed restored. Some appraiser...
