RIMLESS
A rim is on my list as my "new" M came with 5 new tires and 4 rims. When folks say combat rim I am assuming (always dangerous) that they are talking about a rim with locking ring, and not the WW2 style true split rim that was actually a two piece rim that was bolted together.??? If it is a...

My first experience with 24V was back in the 70's with my Willys M38. I choked on the price of a new starter. Everything else was junkyard cheap (If my memory serves me right there was a flywheel tooth count problem with the civilian starter.). I swapped out everything to civilian 12V except the sta...

12V
Please don't run me outta town on a rail, butt.... The previous owner of my very green beasty attempted to convert the lights to 12v. A hack job "par excellence". Being the cheap ### I am, I opted to re-wire myself as all of the old rubber insulation was toast.. What he had done is to &quo...

GROVES
A complete break job on my "new" M37 is on the to do list. A grooved drum is one of the things I am not looking forward to. Nothing is worse than a drum that has a rivet grove....Except being poor folk, and/or cheap. I have successfully "saved" many a drum by truing, and ignoring...

WIPE OUT
My M-38 Willys had wiper blues induced by the wrong fuel pump.. No vac. assist. what I did was to hook up directly to manifold vac. Works, kinda sort of, as long as you are putting along. At full throttle, manifold vac drops and the wipers slow down or stop This is a pain, but better than the manual...

GETTING SHAFTED???
Hi guys... New to the "M" game but here's and old Jeeper's trick. Take a die grinder with a cut-off wheel and scribe a line on you're shaft. With that done you can now check the shaft for twist during routine maintenance. It has been my experience that a shaft will twist long before it sna...
