Re: Help! My truck won't run!

Backfiring through the carb on acceleration is an indication that it is timed incorrectly and you are on the right track thinking the dist. needs to be reset. After that I would do a compression test to make sure the engine does not have a burned valve.

Re: No Fire on cylinders 5 or 6

would a vacuum leak between the intake and block be able to affect just two cylinders? Possible but not likely to happen suddenly, spray some WD40 around the manifold/ gasket interface with the engine idling and see if the RPMs increase which would indicate a likely leak there. I would first do a c...

Elwood, yes it does have a slave receptacle plug in however I only have one pl...

Dead Batteries Yesterday

After trying to start the truck found I had left the battery ground solenoid in the on position for several weeks and batteries were so dead that my new 24v charger had no effect after sitting for many hours. Hmmm, what to do now? then I decided to try my new to me 1968 generator which makes 28vdc a...

Re: Overboring cylinder sleeve/liner?

The engine I have in my truck had sleeves already installed but also needed to be opened up to .030 which I had the shop do and I have had no trouble with the sleeves displacing. I have removed the head several times since the shop work was done years ago and have never seen a sign of movement.
