Re: Death wobble

Bias ply tires with flat spots ( especially from sitting, I have had this happen to me with one of my Willys jeeps- I went with new tires and keep it off of the ground when I am not using it for extended periods of time ), tire balance , tire damage, any looseness in your steering, king pins, tie ro...

Re: Show us your Steel...

Just watch out for the trailer bug :D once it bit me next thing I know I end up with trailers all over my property. They look like they are out there grazing  gotta thin the herd out to just 5 or 6. Trailers are handy and nice to have- easy maintenance.

Re: intake manifold for 251 c. i.

Jerry I think that I have an intake that will work, I'll look tonight. It was on one of my m37's that I bought for parts and it had a 251 cobbled into it.

Re: the deadly art of tire repair

Good information here on mounting multi piece rims. Here at my big truck shop I use a product called "Slide" instead of soapy-water mixture ( that has a tendency to promote rust on rims ) I get it from my local tire dealer. I also use baby powder in the tire so the tube is lubricated so it...

Re: Carter YF rebuild

The biggest problem that I have had regarding the YF carbs on my Willys Jeeps is to make sure that when you are tightening the accelerator pump to make sure that you don't get the diaphragm caught in the screws, it will tear it. That has caused some fuel draining problems that occur if the vehicle s...

Re: Handy-man / Hi-Lift Jack

They are great jacks, just make sure to respect it, it can and will hurt you if you give it a chance. Keep it clean and lubricated and do not use it with the handle just stuck in the jack mechanism ( use a cotter pin, clip of some sorts to keep it in place) it will come out and fly around with incre...

Re: Anyone going to Iola?

We ( my girlfriend , her son and I) had a good time. I thought that the parts swap meet was a little smaller. A few of the normal guys, that I know, were not there. Overall vehicle turn out was a little down too. Camping crowd was good. Fridays crowd seemed normal, Saturday was very good and Sunday,...

Re: Anyone going to Iola?

I arrived in Iola yesterday evening had to leave the m37b1 at home, I have to get some more parts so I can put it back together :D . Just look for the guy running around in a t-24 weasel with a k-38 trailer tagging along behind. I have already picked up some good deals on Thursday and had to use the...

Re: Towbar or Trailer? A Penny For Your Thoughts.

Tim, Kelleys' right about electric brakes, that's the only way to go. If you do get a "bumper pull" trailer stay away from surge brakes they are a pain to maintain and they are more costly than the electrics to repair especially if you have to do anything with the tongue mounted master cyl...

Re: Towbar or Trailer? A Penny For Your Thoughts.

I prefer trailering as opposed to flat towing. You don't have to worry; about wearing out a set of NDT's, damaging drive train parts at speeds that they were not designed for, lighting issues ( side marker, stop, tail, turn ) and quite frankly, with some of the drivers out there , I would rather them...

Re: OFF TOPIC-BOBBED DEUCES...

When I bought my deuces from Gov liquidation I decided to make something different out of them , just too many basic cargo trucks out there so I bobbed one and made a semi tractor out of the other one. I average 4000 miles a year on the bobbed one, its a joy to drive (now that I have taken care of t...

Re: New Life Canvas Tops

I bought my seat covers and chain covers from Mona and I was Very satisfied. When I am ready she will also get to make my m422a1 seat covers. A friend has a cargo top for a GMC 1 1/2 ton from her also and just this last weekend at the m29 weaselfest in Iowa I got to see one of her weasel tops and it...
