we are thinking that some idiot that had it apart before me never marked the main caps then when he put it back together they were switched around I put them back where the were when I pulled the engine apart it may be salvageable but if I have to pull that darned thing again it sure ain't going bac...

engine is seized
I bought a 1997 12 valve cummins 5speed
once I get the cummins paid off I will be reviving this truck with a small block v8
any suggestions on what engine I should put in it
I may be able to get a chevy inline 6 for dirt cheap

timing chain warning the one i bought from vpw did not work the new chain is not the right chain for the nos timing gears it was so tight that we had to have 3 guys to get it on then i had to take the engine out and apart 2 more times to figure out what all of the noise was i found that the stupid ...

I went with electric fuel pump and my wipers are on there way and above you mentioned that all military vehicles can only take so much something else I realized the other day that made me like them even more they were made to be worked on in the field while being shot at now that's saying something ...

ran truck for 2.5 hrs today
ran good no issues
did good in what snow we had left
plan to get plates and insurance on it in the next week or so

Here's some more #'s: Swept Volume: 629cc Volume between piston & deck: 5cc Volume of valves: -2cc Volume of head gasket: 19cc Volume of current 218 head's chamber (casting #1326304-11): ~86cc If you're bored and run the #'s it should work out to 6.8:1 CR. This with the small chamber 218 head! ...

Got the rubber cowl/windshield gasket. It doesn't seem wide enough to completely fill the gap from front to back It looks like it will do a dandy job sealing out water though and it will look good on the outside. I am going to use some black permatex to be absolutely sure its watertight. Beats duct...
