Re: Trying to understand this data plate

The # you are referring to on the cab inside the engine compartment is for the cab/body itself. You will not find that it matches any numbers on the data plates nor the VIN on the frame rail.

Re: Fire extinguisher,General Fire Guard, Quick Aid Model 85

Yes, that would be the correct one. I just checked, same thing in my 52. Get your Brasso out and give it some brand new under dash "bling" ....don't use the Brasso on the painted label part...

That's what happens when you have too much time, too much money, and a little imagination.

RADIO GURUS

Anyone here a radio guru (or know one). I came accross a MT-327/GR (it is the vehicle mount for the VRC 16,17,18 setups that would go in the back of our trucks). It's NOS in the original box with hardware and the power distribution box and cables attached underneath. It's probably over 2 feet long a...

If you look at the sub categories above you can find basic info.. (Contract #s , production dates etc.) Hood number isn't going to tell you anything useful. The bumperettes have historically reveaeled the most info as to what unit,.. etc the truck was assigned. I would start to very lightly sand to ...

I don't think you would be stepping on their toes. The disc brake conversion is kind of in a class by itself (performancewise) for these trucks. Putting new drums on isn't going to come close to the disc brake performance. As far as it being worth it to make new drums that's a good question. Even af...

As for the air cleaner fording shroud mine is gloss black...that is out of it's cardboard box-packed in the original sealed wooden crate. My stacks and hardware are green. The thing that is quite often forgotten is that different companies produced different components. What they used as a color (so...

ok, the next question,,,,Will I still need the resistor with an aftermarket (metal cased) coil? I'm thinking yes..it looks like it also serves as a spacer to put the coil contact point up near the distributor cap spring.

Charles, yes, it's what they refer to as "molded"....It's no suprise it is cracked. I think it was rebuilt (distributor) in the 70s. The tag on it says: COIL, IGNITION, MOLDED 24 VOLTS CODE/P/N: 19207-8712400 MFR: 90997 F.S.N. 2920-089-3607 CONTRACT: DAAE 07-68-C-0959 "CAUTION-USE EXT...

Yea,,,as for the all the other components they are brand new...Since I popped the cap I went ahead and grabbed my distributor repair kit I had from one of the shows and replaced all the components. The contact on the points was slam wore out. The coil was the last item. I have a complete spare distr...
