These boxes are really simple. Just a worm and sector. If it's not leaking I would tend to leave it alone. The power train body and frame book has the best info on it.

You can totally take them apart. The glass can be cleaned and bulbs changed. The outer cases are push and twist you can see the pins in the photo you posted. Mine looked that bad also and like above I soldered new wire in and cleaned up everything. But no boots, hey I am not going to be in water ove...

Cool video. I like the color of your truck. It is great to see it climbing over rocks and through a stream. I also have a top from Weebee Webbing. It's 5 years old and still looks tight and new.
