Gas tank replacement

Hi guys, Seems like my pinhole leaks were too many and too big and my attempts at repairing did not hold. So, I am in the market for a new tank for the M. I read on another post that there are some "modern" replacements that will work: 1975-1985 Ford E-350 van Early 90's S-10 pickup If rep...

Re: Tires

This is a lot of good information, thanks guys. Charles, you have put the fear of god into me-which is a good thing to be reminded of. Are there any needed modifications if one does 11/16 sized tires? I was out looking at the ones on my truck over the weekend-1953 dated! I guess there is a chance th...

Tires

Sounds like this is a nasty can of worms to open, but here it goes... My tires won't last long and I have been researching today different options. Obviously this has been covered in depth before, but in reading all of the old posts I am a bit confused. I went for original authenticity with the jeep...

Re: 1953 Truck ID and color scheme

Great pics, Kevin! The red does look sharp. The blue looks pretty good, too. As does the OD. I sound like a woman looking at shoes. If I were, I'd buy all three pairs...so maybe I should look for two more trucks to buy so I can have one of each! Who I am kidding, the deal I would have to strike with...

Re: 1953 Truck ID and color scheme

Thanks guys. You just verified what I was hoping to be the case. Now I know the original vehicle number and at least a bit of an idea of what it did for some of its time in the service! I have seen spots of blue on both doors so it will be interesting to see if the numbers will match up. Before toda...

1953 Truck ID and color scheme

I have been sanding down multiple layers of paint and here is what I have found: It is definitely a USAF truck. There is a layer of Strata blue EVERYWHERE throughout the truck...and the data plates list it as Air Force. The second layer of paint is red-bright firetruck red. The next two layers of pa...

Re: 1954 m37 part out

Ed, Received the box today. Everything looked as you described to me and it all arrived safely. Thank you for your help, generosity and effort in getting the parts off of the truck. Hope your shoulder gets better, Bo And I found the NOS part. You must have felt very bad about that carburetor.

Re: Venting the Distributor

Cuz-thanks for the offline support the other day. Great pictures, Carter. I have been trying to work my way through the manuels, but sometimes it gets a bit frustrating when they are all saved on the computer and you have to scroll constantly. I've got my vent cap, bought the very small .040 drill b...

Re: Venting the Distributor

If you have the basic fuel only pump then just do this from the hole that was originally used in the intake manifold. Cuz, if I am interpreting this correctly, is it possible to run the incoming vent line into the distributor from the port on the intake manifold? If so, where does the outgoing dist...

Re: Carb identity required

Wes-great pictures! Thank you. They say a thousand words AND it told me how jury rigged my system is! In time, I will have a lot to change/modify. As for the final color, it is yet to be decided, but I am sure my overzealous desire for historical authenticity will override everything else...and the ...

Re: Carb identity required

Hello all, Longtime reader, first time poster. I just got my hands on a '53 M37 and I have been trying to do a lot of reading at this site as well as a lot of inventorying on the truck in my driveway. I am a jeep guy that has upgraded into the world of trucks. Although there are a of of similiaritie...
