Re: M37 Canvas

Just me- as I recall, the ccc-d-950 is more akin to a “sulpher dyed” fabric and more appropriate for bags to put manuals in etc. I think the spec you want to be going for is something like ccc-c-428g type 1 (od 7) or type 2 (deck grey), further, you would want a class 1 for your cab top and cargo co...

M37 Canvas

Hello everyone! In the next six months or so I should be ready for new canvas on a stock M37 of mine. Although I know I could stitch up my own ( seat covers, cab top, cargo cover, straps), I thought I’d take a poll of suggestions of current canvas suppliers, and fabricators. So tell me please, pros ...

Re: Wiring harness sub assemblies

So, turns out I have an early style front wiring harness that I can use as a “template” to make a new wiring harness. Found it in storage today! In fact, it looks good enough to use as it is, but I find wiring fun, I will likely make a new one, just for fun. I am still looking for dimensions of the ...

Re: Timing pointer on 230 flat head six engine missing

One of my M37s was missing the timing pointer, and interestingly, I found it on the cross member beneath the radiator. So I could weld it back on, but more likely, I’ll put another cover on it with a pointer when I do some engine upgrades in the spring. Check around, your lost pointer may be close by!

Re: Timing pointer on 230 flat head six engine missing

They were spot welded on. When they go missing, you can usually locate the place where it was welded and from the “footprint”, you can pretty well determine the center line of the pointer. It is then possible to scribe or paint a mark with which you can time/ check timing. These covers are available...

Re: Tire chains

Another way to do it is measure your tire. Say your unladen tire/wheel combination measured 32 Inches overall diameter. That would give you a sidewall height of 8 Inches. Say your measured tread width was 9 inches. In this example the 8” sidewall is approximately 85% of the tread width. Multiplying ...

Re: Happy New Year!

The funny thing about that truck is that it is in restoration/recommissioning and being “no room in the inn” for this one it sits tarped patiently waiting for what ever the next mission may be. All the while the snow builds up this time of year and yet when asked, and the batteries are switched on, ...

Re: Wiring harness sub assemblies

It’s been 20 years since I put new wiring into M37s. For some reason I thought the “engine management” (oil pressure, temp, and ignition switch wires were separate from the lighting and horn wiring (front harness). So I guess I’ll have to build a front harness completely, which shouldn’t be a big de...

Re: Wiring harness sub assemblies

Just me, the power for the gauges is the spider, but, the engine harness I guess would go to the oil pressure, temperature sender (grounds), and the ignition feed, but I can’t recall if they all route on inner fender skirt or what, and which ones get “bundled” together or if they even do. lI can mak...

Wiring harness sub assemblies

Hello everyone, happy new year to all, cheers! So considering I’m in the middle of our 6 month winter (6 month of winter and six months of bad skiing), I’ve decided to do some smaller projects that can be fit into the greater time I spend indoors this time of year. Currently (pardon the pun), I’d li...

-24 at my house, and a few days ago when it was only -15, my M37 (stock) fired right up and ran like a champ!
That’s a happy new year!
Best regards to all- Doug

Re: Service Brakes not retracting (left front)

Replacing them all is not only good advice, but the whole process will allow you to replace all the brake fluid, which is something that (IMHO) probably doesn’t happen often enough with these rigs (and cars and trucks in general). Go for it, you’ll be glad you did. Also, it looks like you are a new ...

Re: engine dies after 3 min

Just curious:
What do the spark plugs look like?
Sooty indicating too much fuel or bad spark,
Or
Very light (clean looking) indicating insufficient fuel.
Pull out a few plugs and see what they say.

Re: M37CDN "Gertrude"

Hi Rob,
Gertrude seems to have an interesting looking heating/defrost system.
What can you tell us about it?
Or is that horizontal pipe on the top of the dash something completely different? If so, what’s the scoop?
