Re: Stock Fuel Pump Mounting
I do not believe I've ever seen a spacer between the stock fuel pump and the block. You might try sending a PM to Charles Talbert or RMS. You might also try talking to John at Midwest Military. They are all very knowledgeable, and with their experience, may have seen this issue before. I can think o...

Re: So now, to the blown head gasket...
It was only only silver on the original engine from the factory. When they were rebuilt, repaired or overhauled they were painted O.D.
So, 24087 would be correct for what you are doing.........

Re: NDT lifespan?
I went to Super Lugs because the NDTs just seem to "disappear" on hard surface (concrete & asphalt) roads. It is like rubbing a pencil eraser on a piece of course sand paper. NDTs lasted about 9 months or so on the front of my truck and about another year on the rear. I got tired of bu...

Re: Timing Mark
The standard recommendation for these engines is 4 degrees before top dead center. So, see which way the engine turns and mark the crank pulley before the d.c. line.
4 degrees before top dead center is the recommendation from Charles Talbert of M-Series Rebuild.

Welcome to the site and congratulations on your truck! Looking forward to seeing your pictures of the truck.
Be sure to contact RMS on this website. He has a number of the Canadian trucks and is a wealth of knowledge on all things M37-Canadian.

Re: Head lamp question
These yellow / amber headlights were an artifact of the Vietnam War. These were supposedly better in that environment. Some people who spent their time with the transportation units in-country can probably provide much more information. You might also try over on the Steel Soldiers website. I recall...

Re: A little more progress
It's always so nice when you get to start putting it back together. Taking stuff apart is fun, but the bagging and cleaning, not so much.
Your frame looks great!

Re: '54 M37 value needed??
That is a very tough question. It depends on your market and exposure to it. MV Brokers will consistently get much higher prices as will auction houses, but they will take their cut. You can market it, but it will only be worth what the market will pay. Not much help I know, but start doing your res...

Nice Truck! Glad to hear that you're going to keep it stock.
Get a set of manuals and start reading. It will be rewarding as you start working on your truck.

Re: Battery Specification Sheet
Thanks, Carter!
That is a very helpful sheet to have. It always helps to have a spec sheet like that when trying to buy the correct batteries for the truck. It proves to the counter person that they exist.

Re: So now, to the blown head gasket...
You did confirm that it was a bad head gasket, correct?
Where did the head gasket fail? Do you know why it failed?
Just curious about what caused the failure and the extent of the damage.
I hope getting it fixed turns out to be easier than expected.

Re: 100 amp system parts value
The problem, xm708, is shipping. The parts are valuable, but the shipping costs wipe out that value pretty quickly. I'd really like to have a set of spares for my 100 amp system, but shipping them from Vermont and then testing / repairing / rebuilding them becomes prohibitive. So, they are v...
