Re: M38 at county auction in Florida
Do you know what they finally got for that Jeep? I searched the net and found plenty of reports about it being up for sale but couldn't find a single one from after the sale that reported what was paid for it.

Re: 1952 dodge m37
Just be aware that there are (or were) several people selling jacks on E-bay that they claimed were from M-37s but didn't look like any jack that I've seen identified as a proper M-37 jack. Perhaps what they have was just some old jack that someone threw into the back of an M-37 but that doesn't mak...

Re: cargo hooks?
FWIW
I just looked at the newest entry in the M-37 registry (#80030372) and it has the same hooks.

Re: M37 tools
There's a list of the tools supplied with the trucks in the Specifications section of this website http://www.g741.org/Specifications.html . But be aware that some of the things like first aid kit, fire extinguisher(?) and the type jack were deleted or changed during the production so compare your v...

Re: M24A3 Pedalstal mount for the M37...
Oddjob, I just bought a copy of David Doyle's book 'Standard Catalog of Military Vehicles'. I got mine 2nd hand off of E-greed for $11 including shipping! You should get a copy of it and read it. It has a pretty good description and picture of the M24A3 mount for the M-37 and it mentions a couple of...

Re: winch questions
Tom, The RH housing is threaded and there's a piece about 1/2" across x 1/4" deep broken out on the bottom edge of the hole. Is that big enough to matter? The LH housing is not threaded and appears to be fine. How do these get broken? Do people catch them on stumps or something or can over...

Wanted: inside door panels
Does anyone have a pair of the inside door panels in good condition that they can part with? They're missing off of all the parts trucks in this area or else they're completely rusty and full of holes. These are the small panels that go near the bottom of the door and are held on with six screws on ...

winch questions
I was working on my winch today and took off the top plate and was bit surprised to find that the housings have four pairs of holes to mount the plate and that the plate can be mounted at the front or at the rear of the housings. Q: Does it make any difference if it's mounted in the front of the bac...

Re: cargo hooks?
That makes sense. They probably had left over hooks from the old WC trucks and used them.

Wes, your description of the "spraybar" is exactly what I was thinking of. I guess I'll keep searching the archives to try and find out more about it. Jarhead, I'm in Florida so cold isn't a problem here either but fogging is a big problem with our wet and rainy summers (6-7-8+ months of t...

Re: Identify these brackets?
Under the big nut however, was a large copper or brass washer. Now, I'm no radio expert, but that type of hardware is usally associated with signal cables and radio wiring. I'm thinking it was there to provide a hookup for a ground stake maybe? Either way, I'm becomming more and more convinced they...

Re: Identify these brackets?
Does anyone know if the bed (or truck in general) would have any other tell-tale brackets that would help decipher what these brackets are for? Are there another brackets I should look for that when combined with these would make it obvious that its for an antenna mast (or other device)? Does it ha...

Re: cargo hooks?
Lifer, I've never seen the wire type hooks used on M-37 beds but they do use them on the Deuce and probably others. I like them, if you use them right they're really quick and easy to use and they hold the tail of the rope so it doesn't come lose. I prefer them to the regular cargo hooks and wondere...

Re: cargo hooks?
I was going to attach a pic of the "round kind" that I thought he was talking about, but it was too big, and I can't resize it. Anyway, it's the bolt-on one that looks like it was bent around 180 degrees, forming an upside down "U," and then bent around the other direction so th...

Re: cargo hooks?
Paul, I don't know what you're beef is, I asked a simple question and it got answered before you started your lecture. But You do need to go read the posts AND the title of this thread again. This thread wasn't about the type fastener used, it was about the odd cargo hook! Moreover, I didn't post th...
