Winch bushing bearing problem help needed
We got the drum shaft bushing out of the clutch housing. This bushing has a much bigger OD Than the nos replacement bushing. The OD of the one that came out is around 2.086 instead of 2.002 that it should. Has anyone encountered that? Could it be a repair? Any ideas for sorcing a replacement? Thanks

Aluminum and Brass Reaction
Is the follwing problem becasue of anode/cathode/electrolosis ? The clutch shifter rod in our LU4 winch was badly pitted. We brazed the pitted section and then On a lathe turned brazing down to the diamter of the clean part of the rod. This resulted in a brazed section about 5/8 inch just below the ...

LU 4 Winch Clutch Shaft Plug
Working on a Braden LU 4 Winch and will need to remove the clutch shifter shaft. Have not yet pulled the plug out of the bottom of the clutch housing to remove the snap ring on the clutch shaft. My question: Is the 1.25" plug basically the same as a freeze plug with a cup shape? For a replaceme...

Fuel Can Spout Rubber Seal
US military Fuel can, Not the NATO style We finally found one of the larger diameter fuel can spouts that have the cam lever to seal them. I believe that the rubber ring on this one is worn to the point that it no longer seals. I am not referring to the rubber gasket that goes under the cap/cover bu...

Tie Rod Stud In Knuckle Flange
I wonder if any one here has dealt with this. I read a old post about the tie rod stud being drawn up thru the knuckle flange so that the hole thru the stud was above the slot in the castle nut. It sound like the poster placed a washer between the castle nut and flange. We have the same issue and th...

Gas in Filter Before Carb
We were fighting vapor locking but with a new heat shield over the mechanical pump, moving some fuel lines away from the exhaust manifold and adding insulated shielding to the fuel lines near the engine the truck doesn't seam to be vapor locking. There is a steel filter near the new stainless steel ...

Idle Speed Adjustment
Where is the adjustment for the idle speed? I have adjusted the the idle mixture screw at the base of the carb to get the best vacuum but the engine is idling at about 900 RPMs and I would like to slow that a bit. On our truck the rod connected to the bell crank on the carb has what looks like a bar...

Front End Alignment
I'm just curious what others here have done with their trucks as far as front end alignment. For a stock truck that won't see high speeds or a lot of driving, can the front end be aligned by careful measuring with a tape measure? Or doe it need to be done by a shop that does alignments? We are runni...

Civilian Oil Pump
We will be installing a new civilian oil pump to match our new civilian distributor.
Rock Auto shows 2 oil pumps, a standard one and one with a right hand gear. I'm assuming the dodge 230 in an m37 would work with the standard pump.
Is that correct? Thanks

Dwell RPM and Vacuum
Can you tell me what most people use on the 230 for Dwell angle, RPM at idle and what the vaccum should be? I just bought a Harbor Freight tach and Dwell Multi meter. Dwell is running at 38 degrees and the idle looks to be 840 Rpms which seems a bit high. I realize there are some good brand name use...
