Re: Replacement gas tank
the s10 blazers had 20 gallon tanks and from what I hear you just have to adjust for a slightly different fill location and they should drop right in. Hard to argue for $80 from LMC

Re: What is a restored M37 worth?
I think Jerry nailed it as far as why he may have been offered that trade. A. no one knows how much was really paid for that truck and simultaneously if the guy that wants it has the money to spend and/or knows how much a project like that would cost to have done to an unrestored truck he may value ...

Re: Replacement gas tank
shame you're not in New England as I've got a spare, but apparently the S10 tanks work with almost no modification. I think just a little adjustment to the straps and you're good to go. Search through here for S10 tank and a few threads should pop up edit: here's a few http://www.g741.org/PHPBB/view...

Re: starting issue
either would work, but if you pull the jets out push it out backwards so you don't mar any of the surfaces. I haven't pulled the carb on one of these but it shouldn't be that bad. Black usually means it's running too rich actually but could also just be because you haven't actually gotten the engine...

Re: starting issue
pull the carb off and get the junk out of the idle jet. If fuel is in the carb and it won't start it's either spark or the jets. Luckily both are easy to diagnose and fix. What do your spark plugs tell you? Wet or dry fouling?

Re: starting issue
disconnecting the vacuum lines to the wipers without plugging them will absolutely cause all of those problems. If you don't want to connect them back to the wiper motors you will have to plug them. I think they are 1/4" lines and you should be able to find plugs at HD, Lowes, Harbor Freight, o...

Re: starting issue
It could also be a bad vacuum line. Put a vacuum gauge on the intake manifold and see if you have a vacuum leak. Gas engines don't run without vacuum. I'm thinking a line finally let out and you're losing engine vacuum. Check your spark plugs, that will tell you if you're getting fuel or not. If you...

Re: 93 dodge 3/4 ton axles.
WMS to WMS doesn't really matter in an axle swap, track width matters. The backspacing between the HMMWV rims and the M37 rims are going to be different. M37 has a track width of 62" I believe. The HMMWV stock rims I believe have 7" of backspacing, so you need a WMS to WMS in the 65-66 inc...

Re: tractor tires
those tires are also not DOT legal so you wouldn't be able to run them in a state with any inspections. I don't know what pricing you deem to be "affordable" but you can get quite a few tires that work on these vehicles for sub-$200.

Re: slight whine.
did you put enough oil in it? If the gear oil is too heavy and isn't thinning out at temperature you could hear a bit of a whine due to lack of oiling. Shimming to .020 gaskets doesn't necessarily mean that it has the right gear lash. I'm not familiar with what the actual spec is for gear lash on th...

got a second transmission. Found a 2wd ZF5 locally for cheap and pulled that yesterday so now will have to try to sell this 4wd one. Shouldn't be too terribly hard, but hopefully some bronco guy wants it to replace the m50d or an auto. Out of town for a week then may be looking at a move to SC so th...

Re: humvee wheel questions
those wheels are stock wheels from wwII, combat rims.
You're in a bind trying to use HMMWV rims because they are bead locks but you might have better luck with standard 16.5" rims that you can find at junkyards all over the place for cheap.

Call these guys, they have the centers for the budd wheels to weld into the hmmwv rims. I think you'd be better off buying the m37 wheel centers from them and welding them in since they have already done the engineering for you.
