Re: Most Practical Modification Thread

Rear brakes are M37 oem. Front is a very old Disc brake conversion similar to Helitool's setup but made by somebody else (can't recall exactly but I think the name was Petersen or Peterson). I bought it in 1996. Rims are 16", I've used the original budd centers with modern radial tubeless desig...

Re: Engine Mounts

I've used the original chevy engine mounts of the era. They were used from chevelles to trucks, gasser or diesels. It's called clamshell mount. http://www.rockauto.com/getimage/getimage.php?imagekey=314956&imageurl=http%3A//www.rockauto.com/info/Anchor/2292.jpg Under those mounts I've used two c...

Re: Most Practical Modification Thread

Afirmative to the rear axle, driven from the parking brake output yoke of the t/case, but not the front. The front is a right hand D60.

Re: Most Practical Modification Thread

Well, In my case, after 18 years is still a project in progress. Right now, I'm ready to swap out the 6.2 diesel for a 6.5TD that's ready in a stand in my shop. I've bought the 6.2 v8, used to Boyce equipment and without checking anything but the oil level I've driven it for 200k. Thanks Brett @Boyc...

Re: Most Practical Modification Thread

200k on an m37!!! Yep, it was my daily driver for 5 years. Wife learned to drive and took my car away. Soooo, the other vehicles in my garage at that time were an M-37 and an M-43, not a tough decision, I've used the M-37. I've driven 120 miles daily for 5 years, round up about 200k miles. ...

Re: Type of winch??

That's not an M-37 winch. It's a deuce and half winch, M-35 and all of it's siblings, it was made by Garwood if I remember correctly. It's missing a plate that keeps the two sides together and both fairleads. It can be used with the M-37, It fits between the frame rails. I know it, I have an M37 and...

Re: Australian economy sucks sometimes....

Go with the rim modification and modern radial tubeless rubber, you'll never regret it, Tony. I've used for years bias ply 900-16 on the oem rims, and the whole driving experience improved a lot when I switched to modern 315-75-16 rubber. BF Goodrichs a/t in my case but Yokohamas are really good tir...

Re: 1980 Paris - Dakar Rally

It's more than possible that it was repowered in some way, to make it more speed friendly. Probably a 318 like yours. And I couldn't find any information on the entrant on that dakar, but It may have been a support vehicle for a car or bike, they are registered as competitors but they just follow th...

Re: Got a little progress made yesterday.

the only clearance issue with the hood is if you keep the horn in the oem place. I've moved it to the driver's side a bit. Though you are not using the round 4" air filter of the N/A 6.2. with the turbo setup you are using and it's side intake it may fit under the horn.
