Re: Source for SS armored brake line sets?

Simple hint for DIY armored tubing. PUT THE ARMOR ON BEFORE YOU FLARE THE END! That is all.
Yeah, and also put both nuts on before you flare the second end.

If I had a dollar for each time I screwed that up............

Re: speedometer ?

I'm almost positive it's a 3.25" hole, but I'll check when I get home.

Re: Map light socket

Hi Rick, Yup.......what you say is correct. The problem is/was that the old Cannon connectors are no longer supported by ITT Cannon and there was no cross reference from the old Cannon part numbers to current Amphenol connectors. Once I measured the aux power connector in the dash I could match it u...

Re: !?$!?$?! Vibration!

Hi Andy, Great info.........thanks for sharing. The fact that your engine was running pretty good (except for the vibe) will have us up at night worrying about the condition of our bearings now. Thanks for that! Just kidding. It's more of a testament to how robust these engines are. I would think bo...

Re: Map light socket

Chris,

I finally found a source for the cap with the chain on it for this connector. It's an Amphenol cap, not a Cannon, as Cannon connectors in this series are long gone, but it's identical. Once I get it in-hand and verify it's correct I'll post the PN and where to get them.

HI Andy,

Wow.......looks like you caught it just in Time! Did the other rod bearings look the same?

Re: Why a Collar on Winch Driveshaft

Hi Elwood,

Ahh..........that makes sense. I need to get myself as copy of the ORD for the B1. Seems more than a few things changed, and I get the feeling most don't know what those changes were. Thanks for looking into that!

Re: Soaking Carb. in Pine Sol

Sal, Never tried Pine Sol.....that just smells too good to be used in a garage! But I have tried Purple Power. Straight up it's one of the few things that I know of that will remove the white crap residue in carbs that were left with ethanol fuel in them for way too long. I keep a 5 gallon bucket ar...

Re: !?$!?$?! Vibration!

Hi Andy, I'm with Elwood on this one. Regardless of the vibration, you need to pull the pan and see why you have excess endplay. Normally excess endplay would manifest itself as a single noise every time you let the clutch out (and drove the crank into the thrust surface of the bearing). For it to c...

Re: !?$!?$?! Vibration!

Hi Andy, I just read this thread..........very interesting (and frustrating). Do you guys have a Tri-Axial vibe pickup you can mount to the engine or steering column? It would be good to know if the vibe is happening at once per rev or every other. Understanding the vibe profile might help point you...

Anyone Buy an Engine From Veteran Vehicles?

Hi Guys, Has anyone bought a good used running M37 engine from Bob Stahl at Veteran Vehicles? He still lists them on his website, and I'm in the market for one, so before I call them I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them, good or bad? Any ideas on the cheapest way to ship an engine ...

Re: Source for SS armored brake line sets?

Hi Guys, Does paint stick any better to the nickel/copper lines than it does to stainless? Inline Tube can copy your old lines in either stainless or steel and send both sets back to you in just a few days. I don't know if they offer the nickel/copper........but I might just have to ask. regards, bob

Re: How to Disassemble This Jack?

No, the bottom of the jack is a flat plate and the vertical housing is welded to the plate with a continuous bead. I'm guessing it wasn't meant to come apart once assembled. It actually gets pretty high (long) when fully extended, but the two pieces that extend don't have much support, so they wobbl...
