TRANSMISSION

GOOD MORNING, I was checking fluid levels the other day and noticed the transmission oil was discolored. My M got wet during Sandy, I changed all the fluids right after, but I guess the transmission needs
another change. My question: how many quarts does the trany take??

Re: Pertronix Module Installed

GOOD MORNING,
I switched to the Petronix a couple of weeks ago, I agree its a whole different animal. Runs smoother and the starts are right on. Seems more responsive, I usually ran her at aront 40, now I get to 40 and she seems to want more. Very pleased and a easy install.

Re: Water Woes

GOOD MORNING, Have you used a non contact thermometer to verify your dash reading? I would do that first then run it w/o a thermostat and do it again, see what you come up with. My M, w/o the thermostat runs about 100 deg.

Re: engine oil

GOOD MORNING,
I am a firm believer in not, not mixing oil, you put 6 quarts of one brand and weight in. I am using a detergent, 10w40 in my M, non detergent does not make sense to me, mybe in your transmission, but not the engine.
Just my 2 cents

Re: breaker points adjusment/replacement

GOOD MORNING, I agree, take the dist out; the toughest part in the removal and replacement is getting the hold down bolt out and in. I just contacted a company called Petronix: I am going to convert the dist to electronix. I"ll let you know what they have to say as soon as I give them my distri...

M 37 V SANDY

Good day, Its been along time since Sandy hit Breezy point and my M. She got wet, with salt water, up to the top of the tires. I re-ringed the pistons, did a valve job, freeded up the clutch plate, pressure plate., washed out the salt water, greased her and got her back on the road. Due to the salt ...

Re: Hibernation casualty

GOOD MORNING,
I would do a compression ck before I went any further; other than putting in new oil and filter. It tells a lot about the engine internals.
