Also on the vintage car and hot rod sites. I'm sure they'd love the logos and Chrysler markings. OR just hit all venues at once by putting them on E-greed.

Re: m37 voltmeter

Adjusting the regulator shouldn't produce an instant change on your voltmeter! Your voltmeter reads the battery voltage and it (the battery) takes time to charge and discharge even with different regulator settings. IF you had your regulator and generator on a test stand with no battery then you cou...

Re: m37 batteries

The condition of the batteries should affect the voltmeter on the dash. That's what it's there for. The only difference between it and the voltmeter on your load tester is that the later also puts a significant load on the batteries for faster and more accurate results. It's common for many types of...

Re: To modify or not?

Keep in mind that if you up the power, via hot-rodding the original engine or via an engine swap, then you should give serious consideration to upgrading the brakes and steering. I suspect that hot rod parts for a 230CI would be very hard to find and the 230 would probably self-destruct in short ord...

Re: Running Gasoline/Kerosene mix?

hmmm, I guess that would work since basically they are both simple hydrocarbons, though since kerosene does not burn as well as gasoline, the unburnt kerosene would eventually mix with the oil and thin it out. And since Kerosene is a type of Diesel, I would think that diluting the gas would have th...

Re: E85 fuel vs. regular unleaded

Jarhead, Regarding running kerosene in a "gasoline" engine, I just posted a question about something that I just read in an old US Army TM regarding a mix of gasoline and 20% kerosene in the thread "Running Gasoline/Kerosene mix?". You might want to follow that thread.

Running Gasoline/Kerosene mix?

I just found a copy of a 1944 US Army TM (E9-803) on the "German Volkswagon" (Kübelwagen). In it it says that "The maximum economy of the engine is obtained with a low grade of fuel. Tests prove that the 80 Octane fuel, diluted with 20% kerosene, offers the smoothest carburetor operat...

Re: What Camshaft are you running?

How fast (RPM) it safe to run one of the 230 engines after it's been balanced? How out of balance are they originally??? I'm under the impression that they very badly out of balance from the factory. I've considered re-engining it but everything in this one is very original and it would a be shame t...

Re: Defroster Tube

Man! That's a nice defroster! I like that That's exactly what I was thinking of except I'd use the regular defroster outlet hole with a "riser" so I wouldn't have to cut the dash up. I like that angular, welded-up steel design. It matches the design of the rest of the truck. Have you hooke...

Re: Building a retro M37

Dodge used that dash-mounted shifter on a lot of vehicles...especially the A-series pickups/vans and on all Dodge-powered motorhomes. It takes a little getting used to, but it's really quite convenient once you adapt yourself to it. I have to admit that it looks a little strange on an M37 dash, tho...

Re: What Camshaft are you running?

What's happened with this in the past year? How much did milling the head help? I thought that since the original engine only used 6.2 to 1 Compression Ratio, that with modern gasoline we should be able to raise that considerable and still use regualr fuel. I'm wondering how much we can raise the CR...

Re: Canadian M37 PTO

Dotgain,

I has a US model M-37 but I know the Canadian ones has some different features and I've been thinking of trying to get a manual for one so that I could study them. How hard is it to find a Canadian manual and what do they usually costs? Do you have a suggested source for them?
