Re: Door Bumper Replacement
I made my own pieces. I don't think MWM had them available at the time. It was really pretty easy to put them in. I just drilled out the spot welds that held the originals in place, and plug welded the new pieces in place. I also used a 1/4" bolt and nut in place of the rivet to attach my NOS d...

Re: Stalling
I believe the vent on the tank that runs to the carb elbow has a check valve inside it that will allow pressure out of the tank, but won't let air into the tank.

Re: Battery Preference?
I was battery shopping a few months back for one of my suburbans, and the best deal I could find was at Sams Club. They were at $85 with a 3 year full replacement warranty, and all the parts places were at $140. Plus Sam's battery had almost 200 more CCA. I'll second what RMS says about optimas, the...

Jimmy,
The thread no longer exists. I believe he was selling his truck and the discussion was in the classifieds. when he pulled the add or it expired it all disappeared. You could probably PM him on the SS site. I think he goes by Coop.

Re: Ugly Truckling down, new source of discs?
A while back I saw a conversion on the Steel Soldiers site that converted the M37 hubs to 8 lug and added disc brakes. The original poster was very helpful, and I got some pics and drawings. He used Surplus Humvee wheels and tires, which is an idea I like. http://g741.org/photogallery/main.php?g2_vi...

Well, the big thing is that's not a M37 engine compartment. Is there more?

Gary,
Upload you pics to the photo gallery. Then you can post as many pics as you want, and you don't have to delete older ones.

Re: Towbar or Trailer? A Penny For Your Thoughts.
Tim When you start shopping for a trailer, you should be looking for a skid-steer trailer. Just about every trailer dealer should have a couple on their lot. If you start talking about car trailers they will steer you to ones with the #3500 axles. As a rule of thumb on trailer axles 5 lugs are never...

Re: Tyres Problem Resolved...
There was a guy on steel soldiers that redrilled his hubs for 8 lug Humvee wheels and disc brakes. I believe the backspacing worked out well too. This may be my approach down the road as well.

Re: Tires
Vintage power wagons now has tubeless rims in stock. They are 17" and I think they are $350 each. I don't know if they are on their website, but it was mentioned in a email newsletter. They looked pretty good too.

Re: Title Info and Experiences Needed
They really are pretty easy going. You just need to be able to show that the truck is yours and showing that it has been in your possession helps to demonstrate that. So letters from your brother or others and even old pictures of you standing next to the truck would be helpful. The main thing the c...

Re: Title Info and Experiences Needed
Jim, I would gather up any documentation you have(receipts, previous registrations, even older pictures of the truck) and take it to the county clerk. You want to apply for antique tags, as the rules are pretty lax for issuing titles that way. The only catch is you are supposed to keep everything st...
