Re: Wanted

The one I have is centered. Guess it's a later WC. Thanks for the info. if it has a 9 & 5/8 dif its early 43 to 45 WC 3/4 ton. one way to tell, if you dont have the diff in it, is the stud size. the 1/2 ton WC and the early 3/4 ton used the 8.75" diff and the mounting studs are 3/8" t...

Re: Wanted

pretty sure you have a civvy PW rear housing. Does yours have the offset diff? offset is PW and M37 (m37 being narrower) and centered are WC. a friend just gave me measurement of 54" backing plate to packing plate on an M37. the WC/PW housings are wider by about 2.375"

Re: Rebuild time on the 230 flat head engine

I have never blown a head gasket in problaby 250K of driving 230s ive rebuilt. half of that or more on one ...

Re: Rebuild time on the 230 flat head engine

sometimes they dont loosen up. but unlike t overhead valve engines the flathead is very wide with many bolts so they are bound to need a retorque. I spray both sides no mater what type of gasket I use. copper spray fills in any small imperfections well.

Re: Rebuild time on the 230 flat head engine

performed the head bolt retorque today. Amazed that there was about an 1/8 turn to reach the torque setting of 68lb/ft. I also adjusted the clutch linkage, it was set a little bit tight with the fingers starting to "click" on the springs of the disc. A little more each day. amazed that is...
