Re: Tire mounting suggestions anyone?

I was told by one old timer to drag the tire under a old junked truck to fill it up and fill from a safe distance... You always hear bad things about split rims but I've always been told it's some of the seasoned vet's that get it... Too much over confidence... and that's where it's going to bite y...

Re: Tire mounting suggestions anyone?

You can mount the tire yourself, without a tire cage if you follow some simple precautions. If you have a compressor, buy one of those self locking air nozzles. Take the tire/rim into the yard or some safe place, a distance away from your house or other people. Lay the tire/rim upright, attach the n...

Re: Had to call the tow truck today...

Pull your sending unit and check the fuel level. Your story sounds exactly like what happened to me about a year ago. I thought I had enough gas, but while out it ran out and left me stranded. I too thought the lines were clogged, etc, only to find out the float or something is causing my gauge to g...

Re: 2010 East Coast MV Rally Pix, still more added

Carter; I paid $150 for the gun I took home. He wanted $200 for them, but I told him flat out that they aren't going to sell for that price since they all had mismatched serial numbers save the one Type 38. I'd have bought that one, but I don't have the capability to reload for the 6.5X55 so have ju...

Re: 2010 East Coast MV Rally Pix, Many more added

Sounds like the law of supply and demand is still in force, Nick. At the last gun show I attended, some 30 years ago, Arisaka rifles were going for less than $10.00 in "excellent" condition. I got one in "good" condition for $6.00 and was mildly ticked that the guy wouldn't sett...

Re: 2010 East Coast MV Rally Pix, Many more added

Carter; Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it back to the show today. My kids have baseball and soccer games scheduled all weekend. We had one game this morning and we are about to head out for another. Wish we could've met up. Did you see the guy selling the guns? I bought one of his type 99 Aris...

Carter;

Where were you brother? The boys and I were at the show today and looked for you. We saw Ralph's truck, and we talked to Cabel Garbee but we didn't run into you.

Has anyone taken over for Sid Beck?

I haven't been here in a while. Last time I was, there was talk of Sid Beck bowing out of the parts business. Has there been any news since then? Has anyone stepped up to the plate and taken over Sid's business? I need a couple small parts and would hope somebody is working his business again.

I installed new points condensor and coil when I first bought my truck, and have never checked them since. They have worked fine for me. No need to upgrade IMO.

Running when parked.

They all claim to be "running when parked". 1998 as you well know was 12 years ago. That's a long time to be sitting idle. Most assuredly the gasoline has turned to Shellac. The carb is probably gummed up badly. The rubber parts on the truck most surely have some rot on them. More than one...

Keep it simple. Use DOT3 and bleed your brakes once and a while as routine maintenance, and everything will be fine. No need for a power bleeder. A friend will do fine. You don't even need a friend, I used a sqweegie with about an 18 inch handle. I pump brake pedal, then use the sqweegie wedged agai...

Book

Maybe we can turn this into a good thing. I think all of us who own that book and who is going to be coming to the Aberdeen show should bring it along and donate them to the auction they have where the proceeds go to benefit the ordnance museum or some other worthy MV cause.........I seriously may j...
