In my novice opinion you only have to etch metal once, if its been previously painted ( correctly) or sanded then there is no reason to etch the metal again. On my mil trucks I've always primed bare metal areas with Red oxide made by different companies (Martin senour,Gillespie,Valspar) and top coat...

Paul No I'm not making a comparrison, I'm making a observation there is no certin proof that either lines are the same age only that the old paint build up on the lines are the same thickness & color variety, if they are the same age which I believe they are I would have thought that the armored...

Not really. Longevity of the lines (as well as the whole vehicle in my view) is more due to proper use, maintenance, and storage then anything else. Leave your stuff dirty, and outside. NAPA 1/4" armored brake line 30" length BK8131196., 60" length BK8131199. The 30" is around $6.00ea and the 60" is around $10.00ea which is only a couple of dollars more then unarmored lines the same length. they come in other lengths also
