Drum sources - outside the box

Dont' forget those M101/M010a2 trailers. They use the M37 drums as a parking brake. As a result, they don't wear out like regular brake drums. Pick up a trailer off GSA and swap you truck's drums for 2 trailer drums - then either sell the trailer or use it. As only a parking brake, a worn drum is fi...

I am still around . . .

It is good to see many of the names still around from the Big-E. Typically people fall off web boards when their vehicle is "finished" and they move in new directions to tackle other projects. IMHO, the MV/Power Wagon folks are an especially great bunch for helping each other out.

Could fix it yourself . . .

I MIG welded mine after it snapped. Almost 2 years on it w/o a problem. I did clean out the housing to make far less resistence for it when I did the repair - why I think it snapped in the 1st place.

If you lack the ability/tool - mail the inner shaft to me in PA to weld.

M24A3 mount instructions . . .

The manual I saw for the M24A3 installation instructed that the spare mount on the driver's door be obtained and the spare tire moved to it rather than remain in the bed. IMHO: The spare tire in the bed would likely get in the way of the gunner.

First truck was an ex-PA DOT truck - well worn out.
Second and current M37 - ex-NJ pine barrens brush fire truck. I still have a wad of unused fire incident paperwork (incident reports) in the glove box from the FD.

Assuming you used a NP435, what slave cylinder manufacturer and part # did you use? I'm having trouble finding the proper part. Thanks. As far as m/c for the clutch - most folks use a 3/4" bore m/c from what I saw on the web. Any old single line brake or clutch m/c with at least 3/4" bore ...

Used the dump on mine - the front mounts on mine stuck - so wen I backed up to dump, the wheels skidded. Looks like the army rarely used the dump feature on mine. I need to reduce the friction on the brackets - I used a pry bar to get to dump and had to jump on the trailer front to get it to go down...

Early M37 pick up tube

Nick, I have the same ? shaped early pick up tube. For a strainer, goto Advanced Auto parts and look through their fuel tank strainer box. It contains about 20 different sprainer types. Pick a long strainer that slips on to the tube end - and fab/zip-tie a method to keep it in place. I ran the unive...

Why are most of the 11.00 x 16 tires showing up in FL and CA?
UVT getts some 11.00 x 16 to sell (at a decent price) - while the famly does gmynastics, I could walk across the street and get some replacment tires:)
