Re: M37CDN "Gertrude"
I recall the Drago name but can't remember the details. I thibk that as I get older, some of the stuff up there just gets shifted out. Here is a link to some M37CDN numbers and a couple of 'in service' pictures. Unfortunately, I don't think this site is being updated any longer. Other good stuff on ...

Re: What is this number in my Canadian M37 hardtop?
Unfortunately, the records were destroyed sometime after the units left the service. Many CFR numbers have been reassigned, so anything in the system now would be for something else. Same with most of the early deuces and other stuff of that era. I don't think Build cards are available for the Canad...

Re: M37CDN "Gertrude"
Bruce, I have learned much over the years from contributors here and the Big E forum before this one, including your many posts. The build is RCrombie's not mine and we'll all follow along as it progresses. On my stuff, just because I have had M37CDNs for almost 40 years, there is still lots to lear...

Re: M37CDN "Gertrude"
To echo RMS, that's a pretty straight farm truck! Very nice place to start rather than the rust buckets many of us have or had. You will find a number of Canadians on here and the other usual sites and since you are in Ontario, there are lots of MV owners on your doorstep. some with M37s. You have f...

Re: What is this number in my Canadian M37 hardtop?
Now that you've had your question answered, how about a picture and description of your truck. And fill in your general location so members that are close to you could hook up and share information and parts. We have all benefited from information posted here over the years and hope you can add to t...

Re: What is this number in my Canadian M37 hardtop?
That number is the CAR (Canadian Army Registration) number which will be stamped on the left front frame horn if its original for the truck. The CAR later became the CFR (Canadian Forces Registration) number. At one point the CAR/CFR would have been stencilled on the doors. Canada did not use hood n...

RMS, You can get Gillespie from Brian Asbury in Ontario. There are guys in the LML that are getting some brought out from Brian and you might be able to get some added to that trip. Ask Brian. Sorry, I don't have Brian's contact info but I'm sure you can find it on the 'net.

Re: PTO Interchange
It may be possible to switch the idler gear but by the time you source the correct gear for you application and deal with wear and tear items, you might as well start with the correct pto. I know that for the M37, the US pto and the CDN pto are the same, except for the idler gear. The CDN Acme pto i...

Re: Transfer case cooler
I notice that the fan is 12V. Are you all 12V or will you need a convertor? I ask because these oil coolers are also available in 24V. I think that the M-Series version of this upgrade uses the 24V pump and cooler. WIll be great to see pictures of progress and the final installation.

Re: Marine Flathead on CL, Hmmmm...
Chrysler Crown marine engines were once very common in older fishboats and pleasure craft. I think they were available in various displacements 251, 260 etc and would have had all the auxiliary stuff like pumps and other things that required main engine power to operate. If you google Chrysler Crown...

Re: Rusty 'scabbard'
For a brass water distribution tube, I think anyone reasonably handy could fabricate one. They are soldered together but I can't remember exactly how it is shaped out the sheet. I'd post a picture but unfortunately, the spare engine has been built back up and the water pump is installed. When I get ...

Re: Rusty 'scabbard'
On all my 251's the water distribution tube is formed from sheet brass. No rust or corrosion damage on any I have pulled out for block cleaning. I used a 1/4 rod with a hook on one end and a wooden tee handle on the other. Reach in and grab one of the passage openings and out it comes. For a rebuild...

Neat machine. Similar to some makes of large forklifts with the single rear steering wheel. Gives new meaning to the description 'homely'.

Re: 1952 M37 CDN Restoration
Looking good! Lots of grinding to get those riveted pieces off, but they won't be a problem after you prime and paint. Once you get the rest of the parts and have them done, it will go back together nicely.
Thanks for posting the pics.

Re: Restomod m37 video
Time goes by too quickly. We did find a replacement pto for my friend who lived in Churchill, Manitoba. After having an idler gear copied from one of mine, and it running way too noisy, Bill ended up getting a complete Acme pto from a local member on here. I'm still hunting for that stash of idle ge...
