Re: Polarizing the generator question
I have a lathe and a mill that I could undercut with but no growler. I will have to see what some testing comes up with to see if I need to pull it and tear into it. Thanks for the offer. Hopefully I can at least test it in a week or so.

Re: Polarizing the generator question
Ah, yes, I thought I recognized you. Thanks for your input. I downloaded the TM and I just got notice that the test connector kit is being shipped. It will be interesting to find out what's going on. The truck has run fine but it always has charged batteries and short runs so I really don't know wha...

Re: Polarizing the generator question
A growler, I remember one of those from auto shop and the gas station I worked at right out of high school. Tools from the past that still have a use. IIRC we used a hack saw blade with it.

Re: Polarizing the generator question
Thanks guys, I just bought the test set that Elwood posted the ebay link to. I am in the process of acquiring a M151a2 and that will let me have time to sort out what may be wrong on the M37. I haven't checked but do you know if the test set will work on the MUTT also? Elwood, are you in Michigan? I...

Polarizing the generator question
I replaced the solid state voltage regulator some time back and did not polarize the generator. Is polarizing necessary? My volt gauge needle shows mid green on the gauge when running. When I turn on all of the lights and hook up the trailer, after a few miles, the needle starts to drop down to the ...

best complete engine gasket set for my 230 cu.
I'm confused, it seems that no one sells a complete engine gasket set for the 230. I'm under the inpression that you have to order main seals from one source and engine gaskets from another and front timing chain crankshaft seal from yet another. Is this tru? Can I buy all from one vendor and get qu...

canvas top tie down instructions
I saw a printed instuction on how to use the tie down loops to secure canvas rope someplace. I thought I saved it but can't find it now. Does anyone have a copy? It explains proper use of the rope tie down loops on the cab.
Thanks CT

Re: electrical question
Thanks, it's a new beacon and I did relube it, motor runs well. The other issue may be that the voltage reg. went out last year and I replaced it with a repop. It may not be up to par for the system.

electrical question
Anyone know the amperage drain with all of the lights on? 24 volt system. Reason I ask, I drove my truck up to an event 50 miles away, I have a rotating amber light mounted and with all the lights on, mains on low beam, after about 40 miles, the amp gauge had moved from the middle green down to the ...

cooling system capacity
Ok, I just flushed and refilled my M37 cooling system. I checked the internet for capacity and found that it was 25 qts. Bought 3 gals distilled water and 3 gals straight undeluted antifreeze. Filled the system and found it would only take 4 gallons. Finally found the tm and it stated 18 qts. I'm as...
