Re: To modify or not?
I have to put in my 2 cents here. If and when you build any engine, spend the extra 200.00 or so and get it balanced. Unbalanced stock type engines can and will throw rods at high rpm. If you want to drive faster you have to spin the engine faster...... nuff said.

Re: Building a retro M37
I thought of mounting it on the outside of the frame but then you could see it. I wanted it hidden. I will look into the Ford van box though. Thanks.

Re: Building a retro M37
yes, I know, paper gages..... I wanted to see what fit and what they looked like without buying them and THEN finding out they won't fit. I put the seat in and looked to see if they would be too far away to read them. But all seems good so now i know what to get and I know I can read the numbers on ...

Re: Building a retro M37
Well, I finished a couple of more items. I have now re-originzed the dash. I have made the gage cluster bigger and added a few more gages. A tach, boost meter, pyro and tranny temp. To the left I will have all the switches. They will be all lever style twist switches, just tlike the stock switches. ...

Re: Defroster Tube
I have not tried it out yet. I have lots of other mocking up goiing on at the same time. The nice part is that if the air is not diverted at the windshield good enough I can unbolt the tube and modify it easily enough. Even after the truck is painted I can always make a new tube if I want to. I've b...

Re: Building a retro M37
So I think I'm done the defrosters. Very time consuming! Made it so I can unbolt the defroster manifold if needed. there will be a rubber gasket in behind the defroster and the dash. The ducts are welded to the dash and I can hook up a 2" duct hose to them. I think I'll go with a Hurricane heat...

Re: Building a retro M37
I agree with that fact that the push button shifters' buttons stick. Also the push buttons had a lever to engage park. That one used 2 cables. The trans would have to be one to accept it. I have a 518 trans that has electric overdrive so I can use the one cable 3 position shifter. I have an overdriv...

Re: Building a retro M37
So I have been banging out dents, replacing rust pitted metal, fixing the hinge plates that fell down when I pulled the door off, moved the axle forward 3.5 inches and instaalled the shifter for the transmission. here are the shifter pics. https://s20.postimg.cc/b5k6poq2l/shifter1.jpg https://s20.po...

Re: Building a retro M37
Na, I'm past liking shag, it's a 70's thing. I just didn't know of any other product that did sound deadening. I thought the dynamat stuff was the only thing. What I have read so far on the Lizzard skin sounds promising including the option of paint over top. I would like a rubber floor mat though. ...

Re: Building a retro M37
just threw the idea out there. I didn't know if there was anything else to quiet things up. The cummins 12 valve is loud. I don't mind hearing the cummins but I don't want to yell to speak over it.

Re: Building a retro M37
Well this is the new floor. I was thinking of putting sound deadener on the floor under the carpet. What do you guys think? https://s20.postimg.cc/pqsdblce5/d1.jpg this is the floor before https://s20.postimg.cc/y048q064d/d2.jpg here I built a new rear doghouse support. Note I got rid of that nasty ...
