Re: Engine cranks...No start

Now the truck starts and runs like a top (so far)! No clue, beyond the switch on the gas cap trick (which just blew me away).
Many thanks, Gentlemen! Much appreciated!

Re: Engine cranks...No start

Don't forget the gas cap has a switch in it: (closed/fording) and open. If it isn't open, using gas will pull a vacuum on the tank after a bit. PoW I opened the switch. Truck started immediately and ran into garage! No idea if the two are connected yet, but will run her later to see if the fix is p...

Re: Engine cranks...No start

"Did you mean 15-20 seconds? You said minutes, which leads me to believe it is an ignition or fuel delivery issue if it ran for minutes B4 cutting off. Was it a strong runner previous? Do you still have spark?'" 15-20 Minutes. Strong runner. I believe spark was good but will recheck. BTW, ...

Engine cranks...No start

Got a problem here, folks. '53 M37 in GOOD shape. Sits in garage @ remote summer place 5 months during winter. Always fires right up in April. Truck is not run 4 days a week. She was running fine yesterday. Wouldn't start this morning. Gave either hit and started/ran for 15-20 min. Poured some trann...

Re: Stalling when engine heats up

Haven't checked spark yet. Will do. I do smell gas – it's soaking the carb.

Thanks!

Stalling when engine heats up

Runs for 15-20 min, then dies. I walk away and leave it foe 20 min., starts up and runs fine again – til it dies again.

I notice carb is wet top to bottom (see pic) Stuck float flooding engine?

Would appreciate help!

Thanks

Re: IDing My M37

Thanks, guys,

Now I know the numbers are not "correct" based on your bumper and grille tag posts.
Leads me to believe the whole thing was faked up. The guy who sold me the truck is gone, so I guess this is just part of his legacy.

'Preciate your help!

Re: IDing My M37

Thanks, Bob,

"Lots of info" is the problem - so much it's hard to find answers.
The unit markings are:
Bumper: B6 2-381
Yellow Grille tag: C
04
Hood: 3G 5194

I've had this truck for several years, but (shame on me) I've only relied on "correctness" of the markings based on what the guy who sold it to me said.

So, advice, please!

Re: All-Weather cover

OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF WINTERS I HAVE LEFT THE CANVAS TOP ON AND THEN COVERED THE TRUCK WITH A TARP. IT WORKS GREAT AT KEEPING OUT THE RAIN AND SNOW, BUT THE TARP, NO MATTER HOW I TIE IT DOWN, MOVES IN THE WIND AND CAUSES WEAR SPOTS ON THE PAINT. I RE-PAINTED MY TRUCK IN THE SPRING AND WILL BE LOO...

Re: All-Weather cover

Have you considered taking the canvas top off and putting a waterproof tarp on instead? Might have to keep shovelling snow off of it. Other thought is the shrink wrap they encase boats in for the winter but again, take the canvas off. I have. But a good tarp doesn't cost much less than the "br...
