Re: Another Titling Question - Model Number?

Hi Guys, but I fear that if someone figures out it's a military vehicle it could cause trouble. Why do you think that will cause trouble? In my experience it being a former military vehicle is nothing but all good! Doesn't have to meet smog specs, seat belts not required, registration and tags are ...

Re: Another Titling Question - Model Number?

When I finished the M37, and figured it was time to get the title and registration. I went to Northeast Title and Tag ( in PA ) . Showed them what I had ( vehicle type) and the little paperwork I had. I was told I couldn't get a title from there. I would have to take it to county court. I went to m...

Re: ELECTRONIC IGNITION

Pictures? What's Pertronix's part number? They have several 161s; G-161, CH-161... Are you using it in the original military distributor or a civilian one?

Re: Anybody Ever See the Red Circles ???

I don't remember the date but FWIW there was a later MWO that dropped the requirment for the red circles. I don't recall if it just dropped the requirement for them or if it required that the be painted over. Personally I think they're a good idea since they save time trying to find the lube points ...

Re: Australian economy sucks sometimes....

Hey MM, Have you tried getting tires from the Philipines? Rommel from MD Juan (makers of most of the Jeep replacement tubs and body panels) has been very active on several of the Jeep forums recently and he says that there are still LOTs of old Jeep in the PI. I expect that they have a lot of M37s a...

Re: Who is ACCO?

Hi Joe......someone's been digging in the archives! :D Sort of! Just catching up on stuff that I hadn't gotten around to looking at in a while. Too many other projects going on! :D BTW I don't understand the post about the Aurora Cord & Cable Company since they're ACCC and not ACCO. PS: OP, the...

Re: Fed up with waterproof 24 volt system

Well, here is a start for you Wes but you will need a civ. oil pump to go with it to make it function correctly. http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n62/fortyfivelive/IMG_3730.jpg http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n62/fortyfivelive/IMG_3731.jpg http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n62/fortyfivelive/I...

Re: Who is ACCO?

ACCO is also American Can Co. They made the cans and a LOT (all?) of canning machinery used to made C-rats during WW-II. I have a book by them about that. I don't know but considering their experence in working sheet steel, I won't be surprised to learn that they also made stamped out lamp housings....

Re: Correct First Aid Kit for '52 M37 ???

I've posted this before and you'll have to go find that post to get the exact details BUT according to FM-23-2 (IIRC!), the First Aid FM, first aid kits were only installed in every 4th non-armored vehicle and after 1954 or so they were dropped completely from them. That's why you see so few origina...

Re: Two styles of cab rope hooks

There are not only two different types of hooks used on the M37 cabs. There are also different numbers (quantity) used on different cabs. I've seen cabs with both seven and nine hooks and IIRC I've seen one that 8 hooks. Also saw a very different type hook on the tailgate of one M37. I later found t...

Re: M35 parts compatible with M37

I THINK the standard generator in the M38A1 was 25 amp but mine has an extra large one and I think it and the regulator are the same as the ones in the M37s. (My M38A1 was USMC radio truck with a VERY large AN/MRC-35A radio set.) I was told that some early Deuces used the same 50A generator as the M...

Re: Firestone brand tires. ("Tyres" to MM)

Are Firestone brand tires O.E.M. on an early '60's M416? JB I don't know about the 416s but I have a VERY original '53 M38A1 with 7.00x16 tires still on the original military rims and one is Firestore, one is Goodyear, one is Thoroughbred and the other a Tactical CC made by US Royal! It's too bad t...

Re: Flywheel Housing Drain Plug ?

Is it just an ordinary pipe plug or does it have a flange on it like an oil drain bolt? Also same question regarding the drain plug used in the M38a1 since I need to find on of those too.
