Re: Hot Brake

Thanks for the kind words but I've made up my mind. I'm thinking of moving in the near future and can't bear the expense of moving the M37. I'm retired on a fixed income and just had to replace the daily driver. I'm not sure what is wrong now, maybe the fuel pump, maybe the carb or maybe something e...

1953 M37 For Sale

Selling my M37. It quit running yesterday, sounds like either a fuel pump or carb. No matter, I'm out of money and patience. Pics here: https://pbase.com/baywing/m37 Has new radiator (4 core), new gas tank (coated), front brakes just overhauled, body is good, no rust. Tires have about 300 miles on t...

Re: Hot Brake

Good news, bad news day. Yesterday I tore apart the right front brakes. Replace the wheel cylinder, spring and lower shoe supports/adjusters. Everything seems to work fine now, shoes adjusted and no drag. Bled the fronts and pedal is good and there still isn't any drag nor change to the adjustment. ...

Re: Brake Fluid DOT 3 or DOT 5

Thanks, kinda what I was thinking. Probably why I stuck with DOT 3 to begin with.

Brake Fluid DOT 3 or DOT 5

I seem to recall a number of years ago that DOT 3 was the recommended brake fluid. At an MV show a few weeks back, many of the M37 guys said to use DOT 5. As I'm about to replace a wheel cylinder and hose anyway, this seems like a good time to switch to DOT 5 as long as it won't harm anything. Thanks!

Re: How tall is the softtop?

Always better to have 1" too much clearance than 1/8" too little!!!

Re: How tall is the softtop?

Mine looks to be a tick more than 82", so I'd go with 82-1/2" clear.

Re: How tall is the softtop?

Are you looking for a vertical clearance measurement from the ground? If so, which tires? I can measure mine, I have stock NDTs. I can tell you that it fits in a standard residential garage with room to spare.

Re: Ugly Truckling Disk Conversation

I had talked with a couple of folks at the Weare Rally last weekend and they seemed to think Ray had died. I'm guessing this seller (Bruce) has moved on but thought it was worth a shot.

A little dab of never seize when putting them in will make them easy to remove later.

Re: MVPA HQ CLOSED...

Just wondering out loud what this means for the local clubs. Many of them require a membership in MVPA before becoming a member of a local club.

Re: Weight of Engine & Transmission?

Doing a quick internet search seems to suggest opinions vary. The most common seem to be in the 450-500 lbs range for just the engine. I seem to recall a transfer case is in the 250-275 lb range so a trans shouldn't be much more than 300-325. That would put it in the 750-850 lb range. I think 1000lb...

Re: Hot Brake

The front drums were obtained from John maybe 7-8 years ago, new. Truck probably doesn't have 50 miles on it since. I don't think this drum is too thin, the one I got from John at the same time is on the left front and it's fine. Same shoes on both sides bought new also. I just had the left side apa...
