Thanks. I don't have the truck, yet. I'm working on pricing for missing stuff before making a bid on it. I'll let you know if I end up needing them.

Bumperettes

Is there a source for NOS or repro bumperettes or are we pretty much stuck with looking for parts trucks? I checked a few of the normal places online and couldn't find any. Thanks!

Here it is with another coat of paint and the decals. Not too bad, especially if you stand back about 10-15 feet :) Played with the brakes today and went through the whole major/minor adjustment process in the TM. They are a little better, but still not great. I think I've pretty much resigned mysel...

Well, got it painted today. Still need to touch some things up and thicken it up in places, but I'm very pleased. Also installed the canvas top.

A couple new pics, pre-painting. Got the winch mounted and cable spooled, attached headlights and guards, attached soft-top hardware, replaced wood for bed racks, installed pintle hitch. http://www.opensystemsllc.com/M37/IMG_1781.jpg http://www.opensystemsllc.com/M37/IMG_1782.jpg http://www.opensyst...

I also have a huge amount of take-off drums, I didn't figure you wanted to drive from Mo to pick up though. Hey I wish you would haul them away. As much as I'd love to visit North Carolina, I think I'll pass. Ordered canvas top, seat covers and decals yesterday. I'm planning on painting this weeken...

Yikes, a whole set of drums and shoes is going to run close to $1000. I think I'll play with the ones I've got some more.

I don't think you can turn those drums, they are thin already. Brakes are so very important, we don't want to see you get hurt if they don't do their job well enough. Money spent on brakes is never wasted. I coughed up enough to redo my entire system and as such has put me behind on the rest of the...

Cutting corners will only cause you grief, $$, redo time, & lots of frustration. It doesn't matter where you are working on a gear box, engine, electricals, or brakes. It's pretty much a pay it now or pay it later kind of thing. You may well pay more later, because of other things that suffered...

Only you know for sure what you have done, I'm only going on what you have written. You said you put extra shim under 1 retainer. If you used more shims under one retainer than the other, the worm is off center with the brass gear in the direction opposite from where the extra shims were used. This...

Well, still too early to lock up the tool box. The bearing cups must be pressed in all the way in order set the correct bearing preloads. You said they were pressed in when you pulled it back apart. This had to leave a huge amount of end play in the worm shaft assembly. I'm not understanding how ex...

Got the cable re-wound today. Didn't have to tie anything to it, it was plenty heavy dragging through the grass. The truck looks so much better with everything back in place on the front.

I've never dealt with a winch, but you should always press your bearing races all the way into the retainer. Time to get the wrenches out of the tool box again...or pick them up off the floor, if that's where you left 'em. ;) Took it apart and actually they had sunk into place while they were all b...

Finally have an update. Got the winch rebuilt and mounted back on the truck. Works like a champ and now I just need to re-wind the cable. The only issue is that things are a little tighter than they should be. I had to replace both bearing retainers and put new bearing races in them. The only thing ...

Civilian vs Military 230

What are the differences between the civvy and military 230's? Are there any? I know the distributor is different, but outside of the accessories, is the core engine different? Thanks!
