Re: Map light socket
All of the various size plugs and sockets with and without "dust" caps are built by a variety of manufacturers to mil spec. Search ITT CANNON or AMPHENOL 97 Series and you can find petty much any solution to a plug/socket need. Look up the link below and you will discover the variety avail...

Re: m152 only Canadian?
Actually there were a few US ones built. Zentmeyer's book mentions them. I think the rear door(s) are a give away because the CDN has one and the US like the M-43 have two. See below. There is a small book titled “TM 9-1840C M37 – The Production Story” from the IPC Research Department (John Zentmyer...

Re: New Owner and I Already Broke It!
There are a lot of excellent observations given here. There's probably a century of car/truck fixing experience behind those comments. I just have one point to add and "just me" already made this point. If you are new to the truck and it sat for awhile there could be all kinds of unknowns....

Re: Speedometer screw
billy, Thanks very much. After sitting on the shed step staring at it long enough I had finally arrived at the same conclusion. The drive was very dry and almost stuck in place. The speedo cable broke years ago and since the last owner (the one who bought it at Military auction) used it on a tree fa...

Re: Wanting to buy M43 rear step
I think that those are fairly hard to come by. Your best bet would be to make one. The drawings in the manual are probably clear enough that you could come real close.
But, who knows maybe someone has one they don't want.
Good luck

Speedometer screw
I have the instrument cluster out to put on a new 5 wire spider and clean the years of gunk off the light lenses. On the back of the speedometer is a slotted screw head that is sort of knurled. It points directly at the input bushing. Is it an adjustment of some kind or a small lubrication port cove...

Re: Mystery T thing.
I work on the local ambulance. It certainly looks like an IV Pole. However the back of an ambulance is pretty cramped and there really isn't any reason to take up that much space with bags that far apart. You'd keep bumping into the pole. But then again I suppose an IV Pole designed by the Governmen...

New windshield fit problem
I purchased replacement inner windshields from a reputable dealer that probably we all are familiar with. I imagine that all the replacement "inner" windshields are probably manufactured by only one supplier. They are intended for a metal Winter top that came out of Colorado. As far as I c...

Re: Soft Top Hardware: J-bolts? Bows to replace straps?
My hard top has U and J bolts. The upper ones are J and as Mike said are made by cutting one leg off of a U bolt. They look original. I know that the two owners that had the truck after release from the Air Force never did much to it.

Re: new to the whole m37
Use a VOM to check each battery while disconnected and separated from each other to determine which has low voltage. Then reconnect them and then put the jumpers on the low or dead one just long enough to start the M and have a friend take the jumper off the 24V set fast or the 12 V battery in the ...

Can't find a paddle latch for an M201/V41 tool body door anywhere. They are just a little different than everything that's produced now for tool body trucks.

Re: Tie Rod/Knuckle Issue
I'm having the same problem with both sides of my truck. Was just going to create a thread asking if somehow there was a supply of NOS tie rod ends out there with a slightly too small taper. I bottomed the castle nuts out and couldn't get more than 100 lbs of torque. That left the cotter pin hole fa...
