Front Flexible Brake Hose Length

Greetings all, I will be putting fresh rubber brake hoses on my front wheel cylinders. The ones that are on there now are about 17" long but the book calls for the same as the piece that spans across the radiator brace to the front axle, all three pieces are the same IAW the parts book. That mi...

Re: Star size?

OK, here is the method I used. Sort of a bastardization of your option #1. The star's diameter is measured from edge to edge, through the center point, so 10" would be your radius. I started with a piece of poster board material (about $1-$2 at Walmart), picked a center point, then marked the s...

Re: Simple Paint Question

Tim, If you aren't in a hurry, the MVPA convention is coming near you (relatively speaking) to Portland in July. Yeah, that's a long time out but might be an option if you planned on attending the convention anyway. The big paint guys always are there. The conventions are a good opportunity to stock...

Re: Canvas cargo cover

OK, I took some photos this morning and posted 5 photos of the tarp. Check out my album HERE . This is how it sits in the driveway-hunkered down in Winter position. When I take Patches out for a spin, I wrap the tail flaps up under the bow and bungee them to up. You can see how much extra material i...

Re: Canvas cargo cover

Hey guys, sorry about the lag. I figured some photos would be in order. I'll go out and take some photos-looks like a nice sunny day today. Check back this afternoon. My canvas came from Menards but I think most any of the big hardware stores or tractor stores (Big R, Tractor Supply, etc.) carry the...

Re: Canvas cargo cover

I don't have a correct canvas top for sale but I can tell you about one that works in a pinch. The hardware stores carry a 10oz canvas OD tarp, 10x12. It fits the cargo box pretty well. It is too long from front to back, there is plenty of overhang. The sides are just about a perfect length. The det...

Re: Sort Of Off Topic

Bruce,

I found a nice write up here: http://www.command-car.com/technik/technikdcpd.html that had a couple of good photos but nothing of graphic art quality.

Re: Original Equipment?

Gerry, You will need it depending on whether you got the newer solid state flasher with the harness or not. If you have the signal lever where the harness connects to the back and has a 3-pin connector on the other end of the harness, you will probably be better off getting a solid state flasher as ...

Re: Rejuvenating rubber firewall grommets

Wait, what? Brent didn't buy up Sid's stock? That was the general info at the time and I'd noticed a "Dodge" link added on his website afterward (though nothing ever comes up if you click it). There was a fellow out of Michigan, IIRC, that had some repro grommets made and was selling them ...

Thanks Bruce. I'm always trolling the PM mags and articles looking for info. I've even published this one in our newsletter.

Re: Tying the canvas top ropes

OK, let me offer this. The cab top rope laces to the hooks around the back of the cab and are tied to the hooks closest to the doors. The rope passes through the hook, not tied to each, like a boot with speedlaces. Now, my truck doesn't have the 7-9 hooks or whatever to match each grommet in the cab...

Re: M35 parts compatible with M37

Hey guys, I don't recall ever seeing a cross-reference sheet in the military as which parts will interchange with which vehicle as the thought process was different. If we needed a part, we ordered it from the specific vehicle parts TM. If we needed to can (cannibalize) a part off another vehicle, i...

Re: How to Rejuvinate Canvas Straps, etc ??

Yep, I also wash mine in a bucket with Woolite and cold water. Rinse well and hang to dry a few days. After they are dry, I give them a Canvak coating as I do with all my outdoor canvas. I just did this with some fuel can straps and it made a remarkable difference.

Re: Tying the canvas top ropes

From a photo I can across in the TM, it looks like the ropes come out of the cover, down through the hooks on the tailgate, and are tied at the center. I can't find enough detailed photos but it is probably like any other vehicle if you can find a deuce or other truck photo that has them tied. I wou...

Re: Was an Anti-Squeak Used on Gas Tank Straps?

Bob, I've never seen it in the TMs either. My tank didn't have any anti-squeak nor did my friend's 1951 truck have it. If that tank pictured has any ground it is likely to be either through the metal fuel line going forward and the frame's clips or there is an extra wire/bonding strap on the top sid...
